L'adquisició infantil de les llengües de signes

[ENG] This article offers an overview of research in sign language acquisition by children, mostly in American Sign Language. The results indicate that the developmental milestones and the linguistic errors made by children acquiring a sign language coincide with those observed in hearing children acquiring spoken languages. The visual-gestural modality is shown not to have the expected impact on the acquisition processes, which is arguably regulated by strictly linguistic principles.

What is the aim today of talking about philology, either in absolute terms or related to other concepts such as linguistics or language sciences? On the one hand, it seems unfair to resort to metaphors that pair (traditional) philology and (textual) necrophilia. On the other hand, turning our back on the reality is not the appropriate response to current problems: a more applied training (in the professional field) is needed, and (in the scientific context) the frontiers should be pushed back, because the old ones are obsolete and in need of reappraisal. In this study we analyze the English translations of Ausiàs March already carried out (Terry, Conejero-Ribes-Keown, Wittlin and Archer), and we pay attention to the criteria and the solutions used. Here the emphasis is on those questions related to the lexicosemantic choice that determines the general strategy of the new translation into prose that the author of this study has carried out for IVITRA. The article is also concerned about the interaction between translation and the improvement of the knowledge of the original itself, as a consequence of translating it and having to understand it completely, even up to the point of proposing some amendments to the criticophylologic fixation.

This is is a paper about the history of Catalan proverbs borrowed by Spanish tradition and lost in modern Catalan. The authors give the real origin of such proverbs and stress the sociolinguistic relevance of this «oblivion», as a kind of inferiority complex, to the present-day consciousness of the Catalan speech community.

Traditionally, the Catalan language has been divided into two great dialectal area: West and East. It was Milà i Fontanals who first established in 1861 such classification of Catalan dialects, based on the criterion of unstressed vowels: the Western dialects keep a, e and o in unstressed syllables, whereas Eastern dialects have evolved into the neutral vowel. Once these criteria have been applied, it has been found that the isoglosses built on the three phonetic phenomena described above are not superimposed, and therefore do not coincide. L’objectiu d’aquest article és presentar una aproximació a la poesia per a infants a partir d’un conjunt de reflexions sobre el gènere (que abraçaran àmbits, funcions, suports i canals de difusió), d’una proposta d’anàlisi ( on es tindrà en compte el context històric i cultural, els paratextos i el text poètic) i d’una panoràmica de l’estat actual de la poesia per a infants en llengua catalana. Al llarg d’aquest treball mirarem d’aportar respostes a interrogants com de què parlem quan ens referim a la poesia per a infants, com podem extreure dades de l’anàlisi de les obres de poesia, quins són els principals trets del panorama actual d’aquesta poesia en llengua catalana.

The year of 1972 is a very important date in the understanding of the evolution of Catalan poetry, during the decade of the 70's. The changes in this year make up the basic framework for the future characterization of the genre.
