Mycobiota and co-occurrence of mycotoxins in Capsicum powder

2011

This study aimed to: (1) determine the mycobiota of Capsicum powder samples, paying a special attention to the mycotoxigenic moulds; (2) evaluate the contamination levels of aflatoxins (AF), ochratoxin A (OTA), zearalenone (ZEA), deoxynivalenol (DON), T2 and HT2 toxins in those samples. Thirty-two samples were obtained through the methods of sampling established by the European Union legislation. Aspergillus and Eurotium were the most frequently found genera. Aspergillus section Nigri had the higher relative frequency in the samples, A. niger aggregate being the most representative group of this section. Other potentially mycotoxigenic Aspergillus, Fusarium and Penicillium species were foun…

Study on mycotoxin contamination of maize kernels in Spain

2020

Abstract Mycotoxins are secondary metabolites produced mainly by fungal species belonging to the genera Fusarium, Aspergillus and Penicillium and belong to the most relevant contaminants of food and feed. Cereals are the main source of mycotoxins in the diet. The most prominent mycotoxins are aflatoxins B1, B2, G1 and G2 (AFB1, AFB2, AFG1 and AFG2), fumonisins B1 and B2 (FB1 and FB2), ochratoxin A (OTA), zearalenone (ZEA), deoxynivalenol (DON), 3- and 15-acetyl-deoxynivalenol (3- and 15-ADON), and T-2 and HT-2 toxins. Maximum levels allowed in food are very different depending on mycotoxin and food type, consumer susceptibility and current legislation in each country. Among cereals, maize a…

Fusarium species, chemotype characterisation and trichothecene contamination of durum and soft wheat in an area of central Italy

2015

BACKGROUND Fusarium head blight (FHB) of wheat is an important disease causing yield losses and mycotoxin contamination. The aim of the work was to detect and characterise trichothecene producing Fusarium species in durum and soft wheat cultivated in an area of central Italy in 2009 and 2010 and to determine trichothecene contamination by LC-MS/MS in the grain. RESULTS F. graminearum s. str. was the most frequent species. In 2009, the occurrence of F. avenaceum and F. poae was higher than in 2010. Among F. graminearum strains, the 15-acetyl deoxynivalenol (15-ADON) chemotype could be found more frequently, followed by nivalenol (NIV) and 3-ADON chemotypes, while all F. culmorum isolates bel…

Occurrence and co-occurrence of Fusarium mycotoxins in wheat grains and wheat flour from Romania

2017

Abstract In this study, the presence of fourteen Fusarium mycotoxins, legislated by the European Union – deoxynivalenol, zearalenone, HT-2 and T-2 toxins (EC/1881/2006; 2013/165/EU), or non-legislated (five trichothecens and five “emerging” mycotoxins), was evaluated in 31 whole unprocessed wheat samples and 35 white wheat flour samples from different areas of Romania. For this purpose, a validated multi-mycotoxins liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry method was applied. Seventy three percent of the analyzed samples contained at least one mycotoxin. The highest occurrence was for enniatin B, 71% of the analyzed samples being positive (21–407 μg kg−1). Regarding the legislated myco…

Does country-level gender equality explain individual risk of intimate partner violence against women? A multilevel analysis of individual heterogene…

2019

Abstract Background Gender equality is widely accepted as an important explanatory factor for the occurrence of intimate partner violence (IPV) against women. However, the relationship is not straightforward, as high country-level gender equality is not always associated with lower IPV prevalence. We apply ‘multilevel analysis of individual heterogeneity and discriminatory accuracy’ (MAIHDA) to (i) quantify the extent to which the country of residence determines individual risk of IPV and (ii) investigate the association between country-level gender equality and individual experience of IPV, and to which extent this association explains the observed between-country differences. Methods Usin…

The minimum pension and its effect on the gender gap in retirement pensions in Spain

2021

The gender gap in pensions is greater than the gender gap in wages in the majority of countries in the European Union. Similarly, more women live on a minimum pension than do men. Therefore, the me...

Prácticas e identificaciones transnacionales en el fútbol europeo: un estudio referido a nueve países = Transnational practices and identifications i…

2018

On generalised FC-groups in which normality is a transitive relation

2016

We extend to soluble FC∗ -groups, the class of generalised FC-groups introduced in [F. de Giovanni, A. Russo, G. Vincenzi, Groups with restricted conjugacy classes , Serdica Math. J. 28(3) (2002), 241 254], the characterisation of finite soluble T-groups obtained recently in [G. Kaplan, On T-groups, supersolvable groups and maximal subgroups , Arch. Math. 96 (2011), 19 25].
