An integrated geophysical survey was conducted in September 2007 at the Cathedral of Tarragona to search for archaeological remains of the Roman temple dedicated to the Emperor Augustus. Many hypotheses about its location have been put forward, the most recent ones suggesting it could be inside the present cathedral. A project including Electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) and Ground probing radar (GPR) was planned for a year and conducted during a week of intensive field survey. Budd-Chiari syndrome may be defined as a heterogeneous group of vascular disorders characterized by obstruction of hepatic venous return to the level of hepatic venules, supra-hepatic veins, inferior vena cava or right atrium. The main cause of this syndrome is represented by myeloproliferative diseases and, in particular, by polycythemia vera. The latter may cause multiple splanchnic thrombosis, including portal vein thrombosis, particularly important for its clinical outcomes (ascites, collateral vessels genesis, etc.). New insights of the volcanic gas signature of the Central American Volcanic Arc
Volcanic gas emissions carry crucial information on pre- and syn-eruptive processes, and on behaviour of active volcanic systems. Gas variations arise from replenishment of magma storage zones with mafic magma, from magma ascent and evolution, and from interaction with hydrothermal systems and volcanic lakes. As such, volcanic gases represent “open windows” into genesis and release of volatiles from the Earth’s interior. Volcanic emission measurements allow understanding subsurface magmatic and hydrothermal processes, and contribute to eruption forecasting. Effects of livestock system and cheese making technique on the quality of Caciocavallo Palermitano cheese - Caciocavallo Palermitano is a typical stretched curd cheese produced in the Central and Western Sicily. It is traditionally obtained from whole milk of indigenous cows breeds and by the original cheese making technology in which wooden tools, source of inoculum of autochthonous lactic bacteria, are used.
