Indagine sperimentale su tralicci in acciaio di travi reticolari miste
2008
Experimental results on the shear behaviour of the steel trusses in composite steel-concrete beams are presented. Preliminarily tensile tests have been performed on specimens reproducing different types of welded joints. Tests are addressed to investigate on the bearing capacity of the welds and on the local instability problems that can arise in the elements of the truss. A FEM model is also presented in order to reproduce the behaviour of the steel truss subjected to shear load. Moreover, simplified relations are used to obtain the ultimate load on the welds for the different type of node and simplified models based on truss behaviour are used to foresee the stiffness and the strength of …
Signatures of enhanced octupole correlations at high spin in 136Nd
2020
Experimental signatures of moderately enhanced octupole correlations at high spin in 136Nd are indicated for the first time. The extracted dipole moments of two negative-parity bands are only two times smaller than those of the lanthanide nuclei with N≈90 which present well-established octupole correlations. Calculations using the cranked quasiparticle random phase approximation and a model of quadrupole-octupole rotations with octupole vibrations reveal the structure of the bands and the enhanced octupole correlations at high spin in 136Nd. peerReviewed
Supercurrent-induced charge-spin conversion in spin-split superconductors
2018
We study spin-polarized quasiparticle transport in a mesoscopic superconductor with a spin-splitting field in the presence of coflowing supercurrent. In such a system, the nonequilibrium state is characterized by charge, spin, energy, and spin-energy modes. Here we show that in the presence of both spin splitting and supercurrent, all these modes are mutually coupled. As a result, the supercurrent can convert charge imbalance, which in the presence of spin splitting decays on a relatively short scale, to a long-range spin accumulation decaying only via inelastic scattering. This effect enables coherent charge-spin conversion controllable by a magnetic flux, and it can be detected by studyin…

Sport organizations and crime: indissoluble binomial? A sociological and economic analysis for possible solutions
2011
The fundamental principles which should guide the activities of football teams are contaminated by criminal phenomena that produce, as the main effect, the loss of confidence from the fans. The reasons of the crisis of credibility in the sports organizations are both economic and social. This seems paradoxical in light of the circumstances under which: under the social profile has demonstrated a negative correlation between sport and widespread crime; under economic profile, the soccer is the one sport that is characterized by consistent and staggering increases in turnover. Modern society facilitates the scenario described above, because it is fragmented and characterized by dynamic proces…

Acute Effects of Tecar Therapy on Skin Temperature, Ankle Mobility and Hyperalgesia in Myofascial Pain Syndrome in Professional Basketball Players: A…
2021
(1) Background: Myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) is a clinical condition characterized by localized non-inflammatory musculoskeletal pain caused by myofascial trigger points. Diathermy or Tecar therapy (TT) is a form of noninvasive electro-thermal therapy classified as deep thermotherapy based on the application of electric currents. This technique is characterized by immediate effects, and its being used by high performance athletes. (2) Methods: A total of thirty-two participants were included in the study who were professional basketball players. There was a 15-person Control Group and a 17-person Intervention Group. TT was applied in the Intervention Group, while TT with the device switch…
Social psychological aspects of ACL injury prevention and rehabilitation: An integrated model for behavioral adherence
2017
Managing rehabilitation for ACL injury is dependent on uptake of, and compliance with, medical and safety recommendations. In this paper, we propose a multi-theory model that integrates self-determination theory and the theory of planned behavior to identify the motivational determinants ACL injury prevention and management behaviors and the processes involved. nonPeerReviewed
Implementation of mindfulness-acceptance-commitment protocol for injured athletes : an action research study
2017
Mindfulness-Acceptance-Commitment (MAC) protocol has been implemented and studied for the purpose of performance enhancement with several positive results in the past 10 years. More recently, an increasing, but limited, number of MAC studies have also been done in the field of sport injury prevention and rehabilitation. Since MAC is a protocol with flexible implementation, sport psychology consultants, especially novice, can be confused by a wide range of its strategies. It is important to study implementation because it doesn’t provide only information about the effect but also detailed contents and mechanisms of an intervention, which will reduce variability and fidelity of it. The purpos…
Psychosocial Predictors of Drop-Out from Organised Sport: A Prospective Study in Adolescent Soccer.
2022
In recent years an increased drop-out rate in adolescents’ soccer participation has been observed. Given the potentially adverse consequences of drop-out from soccer, more information about risk factors for drop-out is warranted. In the current study, Classification and Regression Tree (CRT) analysis was used to investigate demographic and motivational factors associated with an increased risk of drop-out from adolescent soccer. The results of this study indicate that older age, experiencing less autonomy support from the coach, less intrinsic motivation, being female, and lower socioeconomic status are factors associated with an increased risk of drop-out. An interpretation of the results …
