W dniach 13 i 14 sierpnia 1966 r. ks. prymas Stefan Wyszyński wziął udział w uroczystościach liturgicznych w Opolu i Kamieniu Śląskim w ramach obchodów milenium chrztu w Polsce. Wygłosił wtedy kazania w Opolu 13 i 14 sierpnia, a także 14 sierpnia w Kamieniu Śląskim. Zaangażowanie ówczesnych lokalnych władz, milicji czy Służby Bezpieczeństwa w niwelowanie znaczenia tych obchodów, a zarazem treść przesłania, z jakim do swoich rodaków zwrócił się w Opolu i Kamieniu Śląskim z 1966 r. prymas Wyszyński, dowodzą, że trudno było pozostać obojętnym wobec tego nauczania. The Norwegian National Day (17 May, also referred to as Constitution Day) stands out as one of the most popular National Day celebrations in Europe. According to surveys, around seven out of every 10 Norwegians take part in a public celebration during this day. This means that the National Day potentially has an impact on the way people reflect upon national identity and its relationship to the Lutheran heritage. In this paper, I will focus on the role religion plays in the Norwegian National Day rituals. This article surveys various vocal and instrumental performances (chants, laments, calls, sounds of church bells and drums, band music) connected to the ritual celebration and commemoration of the dead that are still characterized in Sicily by a manifest syncretism between Christian Church rules and folk customs and beliefs. These “sounds of mourning” are examined in terms of both their musical aspects and their social and symbolic functions, with special attention given to the changing dynamics between the present day and the recent past.
