The paragenetic sequences are compared in both aquifers to propose a diagenetic model for the Middle and Late Jurassic deposits as a whole. This paper deals with the compositional and textural characteristics determining open metastable structures in the pleistocenic sand outcropping in the Agrigento district (Sicily). The aim of the study was to individuate the bonding types occurring between grains that could generate matric suction phenomena. The composition and microfabric were characterised by means of granulometry, porosimetry, permeability, optical and ESEM-EDS microscopy, thermogravimetry and XR diffractometry, electric conductivity, and ionic chromatography. During this study, intermetallic coatings TiAlx (x=1,2,3) were performed on titanium substrates: pure titanium and the commercial alloy, TA6V. The aim of this study was to elaborate aluminiure coatings on the surface and characterize the behaviour of these coated materials in oxidation at high temperature under air laboratory, under air enriched with water vapour and with sulfur. The coated materials were tested at three temperatures: 700°C, 800°C and 900°C. The coatings were realized at 1000°C by the pack-cementation process. Abstract Introduction Oval fiber posts attempt to provide better adaptation to root canals. The hypothesis of this study was that there are no differences in adaptation of oval and circular fiber posts to canal walls. Methods Posts were inserted in 20 canals; 10 were oval, and 10 were circular. The posts were cemented with composite cement. Coronal, middle, and apical sections were observed through a microscope. The Middle Jurassic carbonates of the eastern part of the Paris Basin display surprisingly low values of porosity and permeability (Φ < 15‰ and K < 0.5 mD). The main objective of this study is to determine the causes and timing of the cementation that altered the petrophysical properties of these carbonates thereby destroying their potential as oil reservoirs; a fate that did not befall their equivalents in deeper, central parts of the Paris Basin.
