Francisco.J.Goerlich@uv.es Este trabajo presenta una reflexión en torno a la consistencia de las estadísticas demográficas que con más frecuencia se utilizan en la práctica, stocks de población y flujos de nacimientos, defunciones y saldos migratorios. Se ilustran numerosas inconsistencias, lo que hace dudar de la fiabilidad de algunas de estas estadísticas. Las estadísticas de población son básicas en cualquier país, ya sea moderno o en vías de desarrollo. Si no sabemos «cuantos somos», difícilmente sabremos «cuanto producimos». The period under discussion covers 1945–1953, the years of Stalin’s rule after WWII until his death in 1953. In this research, the Aristida adscensionis fibers (AAFs) were taken out from the plants and its fundamental properties anlayzed for the first time. The AAFs were characterized and compared with other natural fibers by the use of physico-chemical analysis and various characterization techniques such as FT-IR, XRD, NMR, TGA, SEM and AFM. Chemical analysis showed that A. adscensionis fibers have a high cellulose content of 70.78% whereas the contents of lignin and wax are equal to 8.91% and 2.26%, respectively. Neighborhood characteristics and violence behind closed doors: The spatial overlap of child maltreatment and intimate partner violence

In this study, we analyze first whether there is a common spatial distribution of child maltreatment (CM) and intimate partner violence (IPV), and second, whether the risks of CM and IPV are influenced by the same neighborhood characteristics, and if these risks spatially overlap. To this end we used geocoded data of CM referrals (N = 588) and IPV incidents (N = 1450) in the city of Valencia (Spain). As neighborhood proxies, we used 552 census block groups.
