MOVILIDAD, TENENCIA Y DEMANDA DE VIVIENDA EN ESPAÑA

2003

Mobility studies take into account that housing tenure has a high influencethrough transaction costs. If benefit of change is greater than costs, the household willchange their dwelling, if not the household stays even though their consumption is notthe optimum. Our aim is to analyse the behaviour of Spanish households that facemobility and tenure decisions, taking into account that they are endogenous given theclose relation between both: the tenure selected depends on the future decisionregarding mobility and expected future mobility depends on the present decision abouttenure. Together with these decisions, we will analyse factors that determine thehousing services demand for recent move…

Superwomen? Young sporting women, temporality and learning not to be perfect

2020

New forms of neoliberal femininity create demanding horizons of expectation for young women. For talented athletes, these pressures are intensified by the establishment of dual-career discourses that construct the combination of high-performance sport and education as a normative, ‘ideal’ pathway. The pressed time perspective inherent in dual-careers requires athletes to employ a variety of time-related skills, especially for young women who aim to live up to ‘superwoman’ ideals that valorise ‘success’ in all walks of life. Drawing on existential phenomenology, and in-depth interviews with 10 talented Finnish sportswomen (aged 19–22), we explored their experiences of lived time when pursui…

Recensione: Anna Maria Lorusso – Claudio Paolucci – Patrizia Violi (eds.), Narratività. Problemi, analisi, prospettive.

2014

2016

Temporal changing of Tonnarella lagoon (Mazara del Vallo, Trapani) and its current ornithological value. Aims of this work were to highlight the importance of a small and artificial recently formed wetland area, that presents different interesting ornithological peculiarities. The Tonnarella lagoon is a breeding site of Little Tern Sternula albifrons and Kentish Plover Charadrius alexandrinus, both classified as “endangered” species in 2011 by the Red List of breeding birds in Italy; the site is considered of “national importance“ for Kentish Plover and “recorded site“ for the Sandwich Tern Sterna sandvicensis, due to the consistency of its wintering populations. Besides, the ornithological…

Open Source and New Media Artists

2007

This paper deals with the open source method practiced within the new media art context. I present a case study on an international festival, PixelACHE 2005, which was organized by and for new media artists and served as a platform for demonstrations of new media projects and as a meeting place for experimental new media artists. In this article I discuss how new media artists adapted the open source ideology. Open source is seen both as a more liberal method of distribution and as an open joint creative process. I was particularly interested in what kind of motives the new media artists had for taking part in the PixelACHE festival and the joint artistic creative process. In my analysis, I…

Latvian Translation Scene at the Beginning of the 20th Century

2021

The first decade of the 20th century was a period of huge advances and expansion in the Latvian translation scene. New, contemporary authors’ works became available to Latvian readers. The Latvian readership was consciously being integrated into general European literary trends. It was also a heyday of periodicals that published numerous translations, including numerous novels. There are countless parallel translations even reaching double digits. Translations included various genres and the traditional Latvian interest in plays was obvious. German was gradually losing its dominant positions as both a source and intermediate language, Russian was advancing. This period also saw a change of …
