Tumor tissue oxygenation as evaluated by computerized-po2-histography

A computerized pO2 measurement system with a novel electrode motion pattern (Sigma-pO2-histography) was evaluated in vitro and in vivo. The system was found to be reliable in 0.9% saline and 10% hydroxyethylene starch solution and in fresh donor blood. Marked deviations were found in lipid and hemoglobin solutions and in fluorocarbon emulsions. Histograms obtained in rat liver, mouse muscle, and subcutis were similar to previously reported distributions. Direct comparison between Sigma-Eppendorf and self-constructed Whalen-type electrodes in hypoxic tumors gave similar results. Abstract Persistent infection with human papillomavirus (HPV), particularly HPV16, represents the prime risk factor in cervical carcinogenesis. HPV variants ( e.g. , within the E6 gene) together with immunogenetic factors of the host may be responsible either for effective viral clearance, or alternatively, for viral persistence. Peripheral blood from 27 HPV16 positive Swedish women with cervical carcinoma, who had previously been tested for HPV16 E6 variants, was used for human leukocyte antigen (HLA) class I typing. Abstract Objective The objective of the study is to show some small tricks for bilateral sentinel lymph node (SLN) uptake in endometrial cancer. Materials and methods Each step of the sentinel lymph node technique was analyzed. The cervix was exposed through the use of vaginal valves and by Martin pliers stapling of the anterior cervical lip. Background: To date hysteroscopy is the gold standard technique for the evaluation and management of intrauterine pathologies. The cervical canal represents the access route to the uterine cavity. The presence of cervical stenosis often makes entry into the uterine cavity difficult and occasionally impossible. Cervical stenosis has a multifactorial etiology. It is the result of adhesion processes that can lead to the narrowing or total obliteration of the cervical canal. Additional genetic alterations are required for the development and progression of cervical cancer. Microtubules are dynamic structures that play a crucial role in cellular division and are recognized as an important target for cancer therapy. In search of new compounds with strong antiproliferative activity and simple molecular structure, a new series of 2-amino-3-(3',4',5'-trimethoxybenzoyl)-5-(hetero)aryl ethynyl thiophene derivatives was prepared by the Sonogashira coupling reaction of the corresponding 5-bromothiophenes with several (hetero)aryl acetylenes. Introduction/Background To compare survival outcomes of laparoscopic and open surgery for radical hysterectomy (RH) among patients with early-stage cervical cancer (CC) and to identify which subgroups may benefit from one approach rather than the other. [Use of imaging criteria to identify cervical metastases using CT scans in head and neck tumours].

Abstract Objective To assess the diagnostic certainty of CT images to identify regional spread of head and neck tumours. Patients and method A CT study was performed on 86 patients with neoplasms in the larynx and/or pharynx. After this, surgical dissection was performed for 142 neck sides. In the imaging study the following parameters were considered for all patients before suspecting malignant nodes: size of adenopathy bigger than 10–11 mm, irregular borders, central necrosis, spherical shape, capsular enhancement, and presence of groups with 3 or more lymphadenopathies.
