This thesis deals with a new automated tridimensional inspection system for specular metallic surfaces, based on polarization analysis. We first present an extension of the ‘Shape from Polarization' method for dielectric to metallic surfaces. After being reflected, an unpolarized light wave becomes partially linearly polarized, depending on the surface normal and on the refractive index of the media it impinges on. Hence, by measuring the polarization parameters of the reflected light, the surface normals are computed. The aim of our study was to determine the differences in some anthropometric and physical performance variables of young Croatian female volleyball players (aged 13 to 15) in relation to playing position (i.e., independent variable) and performance level within each position (i.e., independent variable). Abstract The Harderian gland is a possible magnetosensitive organ. The aim of this study was to look at the possible effects on the Harderian gland of mice after exposure to an artificial magnetic field. Sixty 0F1 three-month old female mice were selected for this study. The mice were exposed continuously to an artificial magnetic field of 1 G (10 −4 T) and 50 Hz during a three-month period. The effects were evaluated histologically. The results show, only in the experimental group, non-reversible histopathological lesions with anaplasic foci in 26% of Harderian glands. Abstract Background Rapid weight loss (RWL) is commonly practiced in combat sports. Both magnitude and methods used to induce RWL are largely similar among combat sports, but currently, there is no data on RWL methodology used by sambo athletes. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine RWL procedures sambo athletes apply to lose weight rapidly. In order to evaluate for the vineyard, the additional risk of freezing, which could be generated by a railway embankment of the High Speed Line (TGV «Paris-Strasbourg») a canvas cover of the future embankment (length 480 m, height 3 m maxi) was drawn up in the bottom of a wineyard slope.
