The interest in the treatment of benign diseases with radiation therapy has grown particularly in the Western part of the world. In 1996, a questionnaire was sent to 1348 institutes worldwide listed in the directory of the Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology asking whether the respondents considered a list of 28 most common benign disorders as being a good indication for orbital radiotherapy.1 Questions concerned the frequency of such treatments and the treatment schedules used. The prevention of keloid formation was the most widely accepted indication, followed by Graves’ ophthalmopathy. Thus, radiotherapy for this orbital disorder is generally accepted and applied worldwide.

Psychiatric diagnoses, static risk factors and criminogenic needs at time of admission and release were examined in a mentally ill sample of psychiatrically detained sexual offenders. Although clinically found to be at low or even very low risk at discharge, 12% reoffended sexually over an average follow up of 7 years. Psychotic disorders were present in only 5% of offenders, whereas 93% had a personality disorder diagnosis and 76%, a paraphilic disorder diagnosis. Programmed death-1 (PD-1) and Programmed death-1 ligand (PD-L1) regulate immune response. Previous studies associate an immune deregulation in ST-elevation myocardial infarction STEMI. We recruited 100 patients with a first STEMI treated with reperfusion. In all patients PD-1 and PD-L1 expression was studied 24 h post-reperfusion in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), by means of flow cytometry and molecular biology. Abstract Purpose To report a female patient of biclonal Lewis syndrome which consists of a trias: biclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance, paraproteinemic keratopathy in form of a brownish discoid opacification at the level of Descemet's membrane and hypercupremia. After several years there was a conversion to multiple myeloma. Systemic chemotherapy led to a complete remission of multiple myeloma and to a normalization of the copper level in the blood that lasted five years. The corneal opacification remained unchanged.
