This paper proposes a space-vector dynamic model of the Synchronous Reluctance Motor (SynRM) including both self-saturation and cross-saturation effects and selecting as state variables the stator currents. The proposed dynamic model is based on an original function between the stator flux and stator current components, and relies on 8 coefficients (fewer than other models in the scientific literature), presenting an interesting physical interpretation. AbstractPoint processes on linear networks are increasingly being considered to analyse events occurring on particular network-based structures. In this paper, we extend Local Indicators of Spatio-Temporal Association (LISTA) functions to the non-Euclidean space of linear networks, allowing to obtain information on how events relate to nearby events. In particular, we propose the local version of two inhomogeneous second-order statistics for spatio-temporal point processes on linear networks, the K- and the pair correlation functions. Abstract We introduce Local Indicators of Spatio-Temporal Association (LISTA) functions on linear networks and use them to build a statistical test for local second-order structure. This allows to identify differences in the spatio-temporal clustering behaviour of two point patterns, a point pattern of interest and a background one, both occurring on the same linear network. We assess the performance of the testing procedure for local second-order structure through simulation studies under a variety of scenarios that also account for different generating point processes. Suspension plasma spraying (SPS) has attracted more and more attention in terms of the preparation of nanostructured / sub-microstructured ceramic coatings. R&D supply chain and innovation performance: the contingent role of the firm’s position in the network

This paper conceptualizes the supply chain of innovation as a sub-set of the whole innovation network. We focus on the relationship between the activities of purchasing/selling R&D and the firm’s innovation performance. Specifically, we examine how the position of the firm within its innovation network moderates this relationship. Our empirical setting consists in cross-sectional data about 1772 agreements signed by biotech companies between 2006-2010. We find, first, anecdotal evidence of both the existence of the innovation supply chain and the phenomenon of firms’ positioning along it. The Nordic Paradox. Professionals’ Discussions about Gender Equality and Intimate Partner Violence against Women in Sweden

Intimate partner violence against women (IPVAW) is a global public health issue often assumed to be associated with gender inequality. The so-called Nordic Paradox, the apparently contradictory co-existence of high levels of IPVAW and of gender equality in Nordic countries, has not been adequately explained. This study explores discussions about how this apparent paradox can be understood among 30 IPVAW professionals working in southern Sweden, through a thematic analysis of focus groups and individual and paired interviews. The analysis highlights complexities of gender (in)equality and its links with IPVAW in Sweden, of relevance for the addressing and prevention of IPVAW.
Interspecific aggression and character displacement in the damselfly Calopteryx splendens

Problems in species recognition are thought to affect the evolution of secondary sexual characters mainly through avoidance of maladaptive hybridization. Another, but much less studied avenue for the evolution of sexual characters due to species recognition problems is through interspecific aggression. In the damselfly, Calopteryx splendens, males have pigmented wing spots as a sexual character. Large-spotted males resemble males of another species, Calopteryx virgo, causing potential problems in species recognition.
