Chiral dynamics in the γ→p→pπ0 reaction
2015
Abstract We investigate the neutral pion photoproduction on the proton near threshold in covariant chiral perturbation theory with the explicit inclusion of Δ degrees of freedom. This channel is specially sensitive to chiral dynamics and the advent of very precise data from the Mainz microtron has shown the limits of the convergence of the chiral series for both the heavy baryon and the covariant approaches. We show that the inclusion of the Δ resonance substantially improves the convergence leading to a good agreement with data for a wider range of energies.

Pion photo- and electroproduction in relativistic baryon chiral perturbation theory and the chiral MAID interface
2013
We present a calculation of pion photo- and electroproduction in manifestly Lorentz-invariant baryon chiral perturbation theory up to and including order ${q}^{4}$. We fix the low-energy constants by fitting experimental data in all available reaction channels. Our results can be accessed via a Web interface, the so-called chiral MAID. We explain how our program works and how it can be used for further analysis.
Geometric approaches to particle physics
2008
Geometric approaches to particle physics have opened up new perspectives and unifying insights. After a few historical remarks I discuss the essence of the concept of G-theory: a primordial symmetry acting on a manifold and on the fields defined on it. This is then illustrated by the finite-dimensional case of Kaluza-Klein theories and by the infinite-dimensional case of chiral anomalies in Yang-Mills theories. In the latter case, a new and unifying description of topological and global anomalies is obtained.
Pion Production at Threshold as Test of Chiral Perturbation Theory
2003
An overview of recent results in threshold pion production is given. While the photoproduction data are in impressive agreement with calculations in the framework of Chiral Perturbation Theory, electroproduction data at low four-momentum transfer show severe deviations from these calculations.
ChPT parameters from tau-decay data
2015
Using the updated ALEPH V-A spectral function from tau decays, we determine the lowest spectral moments of the left-right correlator and extract dynamical information on order parameters of the QCD chiral symmetry breaking. Uncertainties associated with violations of quark-hadron duality are estimated from the data, imposing all known short-distance constraints on a resonance-based parametrization. Employing proper pinched weight functions, we obtain an accurate determination of the effective chiral couplings L10 and C87 and the dimension-six and -eight contributions in the Operator Product Expansion.
Excited charmed mesons in chiral perturbation theory
1992
Abstract Heavy meson, p- to s-wave, one-pion transitions are studied in the context of the union of heavy quark and chiral symmetries. The interactions are described by an effective lagrangian density invariant under the combined heavy quark and chiral symmetries. We study the pattern of the heavy quark symmetry breaking by considering 1 m Q corrections to the infinite mass limit.
The Chiral Anomaly
1989
The Dirac operator on a manifold M is a first order partial differential operator acting on sections of a spin bundle over M. The Dirac operator is elliptic when the metric of M is positive definite. The main task in this chapter is to study properties of the determinant of the Dirac operator.
A Supramolecular Chiral Auxiliary Approach: “Remote Control ”of Stereochemistry at a Hierarchically Assembled Dimeric Helicate
2016
Dimeric hierarchically-assembled titanium(IV) helicates are in solvent-dependent equilibrium with the corresponding monomers. Statistically formed mixtures of such complexes bearing chiral stereocontrolling ligands and achiral diene-substituted ligands show high diastereoselectivity and reasonable enantioselectivity in the Diels-Alder reaction with maleimides if the reaction proceeds with the dimer but not with the monomer. Thus, solvent dependent switching between the monomer and dimer enables on/off switching of the enantioselectivity.
