Objective: To study the anterior chamber contamination during non-complicated cataract surgery and its relationship with normal conjuctival organisms. Setting: Ophthalmology Department, La Fe Hospital, University of Valencia. Patients: Forty patients who had undergone cataract extraction using either ECCE, phacoemulsification or nucleus fracture methods. Results: Positive cultures of aqueous humour were obtained in 32.5% of cases. The most commonly isolated organism was Staphylococcus coagulase-negative. Abstract Background The length of sphincter which can be divided during fistulotomy for perianal fistula is unclear. The aim was to quantify sphincter damage during fistulotomy and determine the relationship between such damage with symptoms and severity of faecal incontinence and long-term quality of life (QOL). Since 2015, the European Laryngological Society (ELS) has organized on a yearly basis the European Laryngological Live Surgery Broadcast. The goal of this paper is to demonstrate the increasing worldwide audience. The number of individual computers logged in, number of estimated audience, and number of countries with an active audience were calculated and compared to the numbers in 2015. In 2018, 19 live interventions were performed in three parallel sessions. The surgeons worked in 10 departments in 8 different countries. Lingual mandibular bone defects, also known as Stafne bone cavity (SC), are unilateral asymptomatic radiolucencies, generally seen in the mandibular angle, below the inferior alveolar canal. Although panoramic radiographies normally offer enough information to make a correct diagnosis, additional studies are often required, especially in atypical cases. Background Simple bone cysts (SBC) are intraosseous cysts devoid of an epithelial lining, asymptomatic and appearing in the jaw. In general, SBCs are discovered incidentally and tooth displacement or pathological fractures are very unusual. Material and methods This study reports a 16 years old man that presented an asymtomatic radiolucent unilocular lesion in the right ascending ramus. Aim: To identify prophylactic antibiotic prescription practices among Spanish dentists with preferential dedication to Oral Surgery in different types of tooth extraction surgeries. Method: Members of the Spanish Oral Surgery Society were surveyed on antibiotic prophylaxis use in 4 different tooth extraction modalities scaled according to their surgical invasiveness. Results: Sixty-nine of the 105 distributed questionnaires were returned completed. Thirteen percent of the surveyed surgeons would prescribe antibiotics to prevent postoperative wound infection when confronted with conventional tooth extraction lasting less than 5 minutes. Background The aim of the present review was evaluate the utility and validity of the Bispectral Index (BIS) in dental treatment carried out under endovenous sedation, and compare its efficacy with clinical sedation scales. Material and Methods Electronic and manual literature searches were conducted by two independent reviewers for articles published up to April 2017 in several databases, including Medline and Cochrane Library.
