In the lecture “The town in extension”, Samonà asserts that the second nature (Cicerone, De natura deorum), characterized by anthropical but not urbanized open spaces, will not be wilderness again. Between “limes” and “limen” Analyzing the gathered projects, there is a common result, characterized by the Latin words “limes” and “limen”. The two words explain the way the projects, giving shape to the interection between town and countryside, establish a condition of limit or threshold. 01. To the west of Palermo, at the foot of Mount Saraceno and Mount Ceresia, surrounded by mounts Pecoraro, Montagna Longa, Tre Pizzi, Colombrina, stands Carini, on a hill 181 m above sea level. L’esperienza didattica e di ricerca presentata nel saggio prende le mosse dall’attivazione di un laboratorio di laurea magistrale in Progettazione Architettonica diretto dal prof. Palazzotto e sviluppato nell’ambito del corso di laurea in Architettura dell’omonimo Dipartimento presso l’Università degli Studi di Palermo. Il laboratorio ha visto la partecipazione complessiva di 11 laureandi, che hanno esitato le proprie tesi negli anni compresi tra il 2013 e il 2015.
