Algorithms for coherence checking and propagation of conditional probability bounds

In this paper, we propose some algorithms for the checking of generalized coherence (g-coherence) and for the extension of imprecise conditional probability assessments. Our concept of g-coherence is a generalization of de Finetti’s coherence principle and is equivalent to the ”avoiding uniform loss” property for lower and upper probabilities (a la Walley). By our algorithms we can check the g-coherence of a given imprecise assessment and we can correct it in order to obtain the associated coherent assessment (in the sense of Walley and Williams). Jet fragmentation transverse momentum distributions in pp and p-Pb collisions at √s, √sNN = 5.02 TeV

Jet fragmentation transverse momentum (jT) distributions are measured in proton-proton (pp) and proton-lead (p-Pb) collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV with the ALICE experiment at the LHC. Jets are reconstructed with the ALICE tracking detectors and electromagnetic calorimeter using the anti-kT algorithm with resolution parameter R = 0.4 in the pseudorapidity range |η| < 0.25. The jT values are calculated for charged particles inside a fixed cone with a radius R = 0.4 around the reconstructed jet axis. The measured jT distributions are compared with a variety of parton-shower models. Herwig and Pythia 8 based models describe the data well for the higher jT region, while they underestimate the low…

In March 1939, the Czech State Archive in Opava (Zemsky Archiv v Opave), temporarily renamed Landesarchiv, was transformed into Reichsarchiv Torppau, one of the two higher level archives established in lands annexed to the Third Reich on the basis of the Munich Agreement. Its basie aim was to document the history of the so-called Sudetenland, with particular consideration of the role of the German nation in its civilization development. Indicaxanthin is a bioactive and bioavailable betalain pigment extracted from Opuntia ficus indica fruits. Indicaxanthin has pharmacokinetics proprieties, rarely found in other phytochemicals, and it has been demonstrated that it provides a broad-spectrum of pharmaceutical activity, exerting antiproliferative, anti-inflammatory and neuromodulator effects. Migratory behaviour and holding habitats of adult river lampreys (Lampetra fluviatilis) in two Finnish rivers

The effect of environmental factors on migratory activity of adult river lampreys entering the Kalajoki and Perhonjoki, rivers in Finland, for spawning was studied using correlation and regression analyses. Telemetric tracking of 60 individuals was utilized to study the migratory patterns and holding habitat requirements of adult river lampreys. The increases in the river discharge, wind forcing towards the river mouth and speed and magnitude of river water cooling had positive effects on the numbers of lampreys entering the rivers whereas the increase in the illumination intensity of the moon had a negative effect on their migration activity. Packing incentives and a reliable N–H⋯N–pyridine synthon in co-crystallization of bipyridines with two agrochemical actives

The co-crystallization of agrochemical actives thiophanate-methyl and thiophanate-ethyl with 2,2′-bipyridine, 4,4′-bipyridine and 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethane was investigated with conventional crystallization, the slurry method and liquid-assisted grinding. Co-crystals of both thiophanates with all bipyridines were found and the structures solved with single crystal X-ray diffraction. Whereas the 2,2′-bipyridine co-crystals seem to form because of a combination of weak interactions, and in the case of the thiophanate-methyl, partly because of close packing incentives, the 4,4′-bipyridine and 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethane co-crystals form mainly because of a favourable N–H···N–pyridine hydrogen bond…
