Non-existence of unfair delay in the exercise of claim actio for amounts unduly collected. Comment on Spanish STS no. 243/2019, of April (RJ 2019, 15…
2020
The Supreme Court considers that the mere delay in the exercise of an action of claim of quantity cannot be considered to constitute unfair delay. In addition, it is necessary that prior to the exercise of the right there are facts, acts or conducts that cause int the obliged the confidence that the right against him will not be exer…
Anorectal malformations and pregnancy-related disorders: a registry-based case-control study in 17 European regions
2013
Objective To identify pregnancy-related risk factors for different manifestations of congenital anorectal malformations (ARMs).Design A population-based case-control study.Setting Seventeen EUROCAT (European Surveillance of Congenital Anomalies) registries, 1980-2008.Population The study population consisted of 1417 cases with ARM, including 648 cases of isolated ARM, 601 cases of ARM with additional congenital anomalies, and 168 cases of ARM-VACTERL (vertebral, anal, cardiac, tracheo-esophageal, renal, and limb defects), along with 13371 controls with recognised syndromes or chromosomal abnormalities. Methods Multiple logistic regression analyses were used to calculate adjusted odds ratios …
'Opera e declamazione teatrale in Italia nel Diciottesimo secolo. Convergenze e problemi'
2014
The fulfilment of the operatic reform, managed by Christoph Willibald Gluck and his librettist Ranieri Calzabigi in 1760s’ Vienna, is a well-known topic. This event, whose seeds date back to the 1740s, has been examined according to theatrical and literary experiences in France and Italy. However, the question of acting influence on opera can be reconsidered at the light of the latest discovery of symbols collected and labelled as drammatica – metodo italiano. Engraved in some writings, this set of signs is often connected to music and offers the matter for a new critical survey about the discourse on music declamation before and after Calzabigi. From the 1830s onwards the theory of acting …
The Reform of the Rappresentativa: Roots and Routes of a National Art
2015
Curated Panel: Italian Acting I explore the remarkable role that the reform of the old Rappresentativa played in the years of Risorgimento, and examine the differences of application of the declamatory symbols in the old Rappresentativa and in the New Style that is referred as la romantica, or Drammatica, analysing Gustavo Modena, Adelaide Ristori and Gaetano Gattinelli’s prompt books and works. Gustavo Modena reformed the old style of the Rappresentativa and was an unforgettable patriot of Risorgimento as well as Ristori and Gattinelli. I explain how Modena steered the drammatica along a new course in the first fifty years of the nineteenth century and shaped the method giving it the goal …
Hemostatic Abnormalities in Patients With Severe Preeclampsia
2007
Preeclampsia is the most common medical disorder of pregnancy. Early onset preeclampsia is defined as presentation of hypertension and proteinuria before 34 weeks of gestation. Alterations of endothelial cells and fibrin deposition in microvasculature lead to enhanced activation of the coagulation cascade and impaired fibrinolysis associated with multiple organ dysfunctions. Plasma samples were obtained from 50 patients with severe preeclampsia before 34 weeks of gestation and in 61 patients with late preeclampsia. Factor VIIIR:Ag, fibrinogen, D-dimer, and thrombomodulin increased with advanced pregnancy. The platelet count is very important because of the close correlation with the activa…
Influence of glucose control and improvement of insulin resistance on microvascular blood flow and endothelial function in patients with diabetes mel…
2005
The study was performed to investigate the effect of improving metabolic control with pioglitazone in comparison to glimepiride on microvascular function in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2.A total of 179 patients were recruited and randomly assigned to one treatment group. Metabolic control (HbA1c), insulin resistance (HOMA index), and microvascular function (laser Doppler fluxmetry) were observed at baseline and after 3 and 6 months.HbA1c improved in both treatment arms (pioglitazone: 7.52 +/- 0.85% to 6.71 +/- 0.89%, p.0001; glimepiride: 7.44 +/- 0.89% to 6.83 +/- 0.85%, p.0001). Insulin-resistance decreased significantly in the pioglitazone group (6.15 +/- 4.05 to 3.85 +/- 1.92, p…
Diagnosing insulin resistance by simple quantitative methods in subjects with normal glucose metabolism.
2003
OBJECTIVE—To identify a reliable yet simple indirect method for detection of insulin resistance (IR). RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS—A total of 65 subjects (44 men and 21 women aged 30–60 years) were selected by a simple random sampling method. Inclusion criteria were voluntary participation from staff and hospital personnel, absence of abnormal glucose tolerance, and normal results of lipid profile and basic blood chemistry. A blood sample was taken after a 12-h overnight fast to determine plasma lipid, glucose, and insulin levels. An intravenous glucose tolerance test with administration of insulin after 20 min and extraction of multiple blood samples for glucose and insulin measurements and…
Plerixafor with and without chemotherapy in poor mobilizers: results from the German compassionate use program.
2010
The CXCR4-inhibitor plerixafor mobilizes hematopoietic stem cells amplifying the effects of granulocyte-CSF (G-CSF). Before approval plerixafor was used in a compassionate use program (CUP) for patients who failed a previous mobilization. In the German CUP 60 patients from 23 centers (median age 56.5 years (2-75)) were given 240 μg/kg plerixafor SC 9-11 h before apheresis. A total of 78.3% (47/60) received G-CSF for 4 days before plerixafor administration; 76.6% of those (36/47) yielded at least 2.0 × 10(6) CD34(+) cells/μL. The median cell yield was 3.35 × 10(6) CD34+ cells/kg (0-29.53). Nine patients received plerixafor alone or with G-CSF for less than 4 days mobilizing a median of 3.30 …
Recurrent cerebral ischaemia in a pregnant woman with patent foramen ovale II° and thrombophilia.
2014
SummaryThis case report concerns a pregnant multipara (age: 27 years) in the 16th gestational week. She developed a sudden onset of paraesthesia in her left lower arm although injecting dalteparin 5000 IU once daily subcutaneously (s. c.) due to a heterozygous factor V Leiden mutation and a prior miscarriage in the first pregnancy and preeclampsia in her third pregnancy. After the miscarriage she delivered two healthy children under prophylactic anticoagulation with low molecular weight heparin (LMWH). Now via magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) she was diagnosed as having multiple cerebral ischaemic lesions. Further workup revealed the presence of a patent foramen ovale (PFO) II° but no venou…
Livebirth after uterus transplantation.
2015
Uterus transplantation is the first available treatment for absolute uterine infertility, which is caused by absence of the uterus or the presence of a non-functional uterus. Eleven human uterus transplantation attempts have been done worldwide but no livebirth has yet been reported. In 2013, a 35-year-old woman with congenital absence of the uterus (Rokitansky syndrome) underwent transplantation of the uterus in Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Gothenburg, Sweden. The uterus was donated from a living, 61-year-old, two-parous woman. In-vitro fertilisation treatment of the recipient and her partner had been done before transplantation, from which 11 embryos were cryopreserved. The recipient an…
