Colorem timere peius quam sanguinem. Paintings, family strife and heroism,
2017
Within the framework of declamatory studies, the vir fortis (brave man) character plays a pivotal role and can be found in every collection of Roman declamations. One aspect of the themes involving a vir fortis that deserves further analysis concerns family relations during wartime, with a particular focus on family conflicts between father and son, or among brothers. In this regard, the oeuvre of Calpurnius Flaccus represents an interesting field of study. Through an analysis of Calpurnius’ excerpta, I will outline the process through which argumenta are built, and I shall also highlight the originality of Calpurnius’ work. Moreover, I will focus on excerptum 21 in particular, where the di…

Patres non tantum natura. L'expositio di minori nelle declamazioni in lingua latina. Il caso di Ps. Quint. min. 278
2019
278 dello Ps. Quintiliano - ci s'intende occuparsi

Effects of sulphonylureas on spontaneous motility and induced contractions in rat isolated uterus
1986
Abstract To clarify the action of sulphonylureas on calcium, the effect of tolbutamide and ghbenclamide has been investigated on a Ca-dependent process, the contractile activity of uterine smooth muscle. Both sulphonylureas antagonized the contractions evoked by CaCl2 in a non-competitive manner when the uterus was maintained in depolarizing solution and did not affect the spontaneous contractions of rat uterus. The capacity of tolbutamide and ghbenclamide to relax vanadate-induced contraction of rat uterus in Ca-free medium suggests that sulphonylureas may have an intracellular site of action related to cytosolic free Ca levels, or effect a reduction in Ca action.
Forma dell'appello avverso la sentenza che decide sul reclamo ai sensi dell'art. 630 c.p.c. in materia di estinzione del processo esecutivo
2016
Methodologies for feasibility studies related to wastewater reclamation and reuse projects
2006
Abstract About 20% of the total surface water in Europe is strongly threatened due to pollution problems, and 60% of European cities over-exploit their groundwater resources. The European Framework Water Directive established that by the year 2015 “a good ecological state” of all European water resources and a sustainable use of water must be achieved. Wastewater reuse presents a promising solution to the growing pressure on Europe's water resources. However, wastewater reuse implementation in Europe faces obstacles that include insufficient public acceptance; technical, economic and hygienic risks; and lack of regulations. On the other hand, a very important aspect to implement a water reu…
Amber Particles as Living Plant Cell Markers in Flow Cytometry / Dzintara Daļiņas Kā Dzīvu Augu Šūnu Marķieri Plūsmas Citometrijā
2015
Abstract The unique biological properties of amber are well known. Amber particles that penetrate into the cellular matrix can potentially be used as markers of plant cell biological activity by identification of living cells in flow cytometry. However, there have been no studies on effect of amber particles on plant cells. The aim of this study was to determine effect of amber nano- and micro- (5 nm-3 μm) particles on somatic and gametic cells and to assess the possibility to use amber particles as alive plant cells markers. To reach the aim, fluorescence of cells was determined in the presence of amber particles, and amber components - spirit of amber and sodium succinate dibasic hexahydr…
