ZĪMES anatomija (in Latvian) The Anatomy of ZIME (in English)

2003

Kas ir ZĪME? ZĪME ir datu kopu standartizēta grafiska reprezentācija. ZĪME sastāv no diviem grafiskiem elementiem: (1) Sieta elementa un (2) Koda elementa. Sieta elementu konfigurācija ir nemainīga. Koda elementu konfigurācija mainās saskaņā ar ievadītajiem datiem. The Anatomy of ZIME What is ZIME? ZIME is a standardized graphical representation of data sets. ZIME is built of two graphical elements: (1) Sieve element and (2) Code element. Sieve elements have always the same configuration, while Code elements are configured according to the input data.

Presenilin is the molecular target of acidic γ-secretase modulators in living cells.

2012

The intramembrane-cleaving protease γ-secretase catalyzes the last step in the generation of toxic amyloid-β (Aβ) peptides and is a principal therapeutic target in Alzheimer's disease. Both preclinical and clinical studies have demonstrated that inhibition of γ-secretase is associated with prohibitive side effects due to suppression of Notch processing and signaling. Potentially safer are γ-secretase modulators (GSMs), which are small molecules that selectively lower generation of the highly amyloidogenic Aβ42 peptides but spare Notch processing. GSMs with nanomolar potency and favorable pharmacological properties have been described, but the molecular mechanism of GSMs remains uncertain an…

Graphs and classes of finite groups

2013

[EN] There are different ways to associate to a finite group a certain graph. An interesting question is to analyse the relations between the structure of the group, given in group-theoretical terms, and the structure of the graph, given in the language of graph theory. This survey paper presents some contributions to this research line.

2-Groups with few rational conjugacy classes

2011

Abstract In this paper we prove the following conjecture of G. Navarro: if G is a finite 2-group with exactly 5 rational conjugacy classes, then G is dihedral, semidihedral or generalized quaternion. We also characterize the 2-groups with 4 rational classes.

Some problems about products of conjugacy classes in finite groups

2020

[EN] We summarize several results about non-simplicity, solvability and normal structure of finite groups related to the number of conjugacy classes appearing in the product or the power of conjugacy classes. We also collect some problems that have only been partially solved.

On the Applicability of the Space Syntax Methodology for the Determination of Street Lighting Classes

2020

Street lighting plays a crucial role in a city’s night landscape and in urban traffic management, influencing users’ comfort and safety. To contain costs of public street lighting systems and to avoid energy waste, illuminance levels on road surfaces must be adequate to fit actual traffic volumes, as prescribed by regulations. This is true not only for motorized roads but also for sidewalks, paths, and pedestrian areas. Regulations in force establish a relationship between road traffic volumes and minimum illuminance levels through the lighting classes selection procedure. Lighting classes selection is based on various para meters among which traffic volume is the most difficult to evaluate…

Comunismo platónico: Revisión crítica de un proyecto utópico y político-social en la Atenas del siglo V a. C.

2016

This paper aims to study the platonic «communism» as an utopian project which was never carried out. We survey the misnamed platonic communism and its forced relationship, with modern communism, which we analyze in depth. Besides that, by reviewing modern authors, we attempt to compare platonic communism with Marxism, searching for its beginning and causes, as well as its socio-politic aspects. Besides, we bear in mind the historical context where it appeared: Athens in the 5th century BC. En este trabajo estudiamos el «comunismo» platónico como un proyecto utópico que nunca se llevó a la práctica. Se analiza el mal denominado comunismo platónico y su forzada relación con el comunismo moder…

Qualifying Building Information Models with Multi-Agent System

2011

6 pages; International audience; This paper presents a new approach combining the 3D elements composing the environment of mobile agents with semantic descriptors from building information models. Our proposal is based on the IFC standard which is used in the field of Civil Engineering to build digital models of buildings during the design phase. The semantic of IFC objects composing the 3D environment is used to select and set up 3D objects and elements of simulation scenarios. The result of this process dynamically generates the input files to the JaSIM environment that performs the simulation.

Impact of a Three Amino Acid Deletion in the CH2 Domain of Murine IgG1 on Fc-Associated Effector Functions

2008

Abstract Four murine IgG subclasses display markedly different Fc-associated effector functions because of their differential binding to three activating IgG Fc receptors (FcγRI, FcγRIII, and FcγRIV) and C1q. Previous analysis of IgG subclass switch variants of 34-3C anti-RBC monoclonal autoantibodies revealed that the IgG1 subclass, which binds only to FcγRIII and fails to activate complement, displayed the poorest pathogenic potential. This could be related to the presence of a three amino acid deletion at positions 233–235 in the CH2 domain uniquely found in this subclass. To address this question, IgG1 insertion and IgG2b deletion mutants at positions 233–235 of 34-3C anti-RBC Abs were …

Hybrid bases for varieties of semigroups

2003

We consider the lower part of the lattice of varieties of semigroups. We present finite bases of hybrid identities for the varieties of normal bands, commutative bands and abelian groups of finite exponent. The variety A n,0 of abelian groups provides an example of a variety which has no finite base of hyperidentities (cf. [12]) but has a finite base of hybrid identities.
