Studies of CoxMg1-xO Solid Solutions Using Laboratory EXAFS-Spectrometer
1993
Studies of the local electronic structure and the short-range order in solid solutions Co x Mg1-x O with x equal from 0.02 to 1.00 have been carried out on the Co K-edge X-ray absorption spectra measured using the laboratory EXAFS-spectrometer. A non-monotonous change of the Co-O distance in the first coordination shell with the bent at x=0.5 has been established. The second coordination shell of cobalt has been formed by cobalt and magnesium atoms with a distribution close to statistical.
Metal complexes of the carbonic anhydrase inhibitor methazolamide (Hmacm). Crystal structure of the Zn(macm)2 (NH3)2. Anticonvulsant properties of th…
1995
Complexes of Co(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II) with deprotonated methazolamide and ammonia are synthesized and characterized. The complex Zn(macm)2(NH3)2 crystallizes in the monoclinic C2/c space group with a = 13.468(1), b = 6.759(1), c = 23.014(2) A, beta = 90.27(1), and Z = 4. The structure was refined to R = 0.049 (Rw = 0.053). The Zn(II) ion is coordinated to two deprotonated sulfonamido nitrogen atoms of the macm- ligand and two nitrogen atoms of the ammonia ligands in a distorted tetrahedron. The Zn(macm)2(NH3)2 complex is shown to be a simple model for the methazolamide inhibition of CA. EHMO calculations applied to fractional coordinates of the Zn(macm)2(NH3)2 complex indicate that the at…
Guest-dependent single-ion magnet behaviour in a cobalt(ii) metal-organic framework.
2015
Single-ion magnets (SIMs) are the smallest possible magnetic devices for potential applications in quantum computing and high-density information storage. Both, their addressing in surfaces and their organization in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are thus current challenges in molecular chemistry. Here we report a two-dimensional 2D MOF with a square grid topology built from cobalt(ii) SIMs as nodes and long rod-like aromatic bipyridine ligands as linkers, and exhibiting large square channels capable to host a large number of different guest molecules. The organization of the cobalt(ii) nodes in the square layers improves the magnetic properties by minimizing the intermolecular interaction…
Effect of Cyanato, Azido, Carboxylato, and Carbonato Ligands on the Formation of Cobalt(II) Polyoxometalates: Characterization, Magnetic, and Electro…
2007
Five Co(II) silicotungstate complexes are reported. The centrosymmetric heptanuclear compound K(20)[{(B-beta-SiW(9)O(33)(OH))(beta-SiW(8)O(29)(OH)(2))Co(3)(H(2)O)}(2)Co(H(2)O)(2)]47 H(2)O (1) consists of two {(B-beta-SiW(9)O(33)(OH))(beta-SiW(8)O(29)(OH)(2))Co(3)(H(2)O)} units connected by a {CoO(4)(H(2)O)(2)} group. In the chiral species K(7)[Co(1.5)(H(2)O)(7))][(gamma-SiW(10)O(36))(beta-SiW(8)O(30)(OH))Co(4)(OH)(H(2)O)(7)]36 H(2)O (2), a {gamma-SiW(10)O(36)} and a {beta-SiW(8)O(30)(OH)} unit enclose a mononuclear {CoO(4)(H(2)O)(2)} group and a {Co(3)O(7)(OH)(H(2)O)(5)} fragment. The two trinuclear Co(II) clusters present in 1 enclose a mu(4)-O atom, while in 2 a mu(3)-OH bridging group co…
A two-dimensional magnetic architecture with bridging polynitrile and 2,2′-bipyrimidine ligands
2004
cited By 7; International audience; A new polymeric, two-dimensional compound [Co2(bpym)(dcne) 4 (H2O)2] (1) (dcne = [(CN)2CC(O) OEt)]- = 2,2-dicyano-1-ethoxyethenolate anion and bpym = 2,2'-bipyrimidine) has been synthesized and characterized by X-ray crystallography. The structure is monoclinic space group P21/a and consists of two-dimensional networks of octahedrally coordinated Co(II) ions, bridged by bis-bidentate 2,2'-bipyrimidine and μ2-dcne anions. Magnetic measurements revealed a broad maximum in the xm vs T plot at 20 K which is characteristic of antiferromagnetic exchange between the high spin cobalt(II) centres. © EDP Sciences.
Single chain magnet behaviour in an enantiopure chiral cobalt(II)–copper(II) one-dimensional compound
2010
The self-assembly of an enantiomerically pure, chiral dianionic oxamatocopper(II) complex with cobalt(II) ions leads to neutral oxamato-bridged heterobimetallic chains that combine chirality and slow magnetic relaxation, providing thus the first example of ‘‘chiral single chain magnets (CSCMs).
