Abstract The stability constants for the equilibrium of complexation between acetazolamide and the divalent metal ions copper(II), nickel(II), zinc(II), and cobalt(II) have been determined by potentiometry both in water and in water-ethanol 50 vol. % solutions in 0.15 mol dm −3 NaNO 3 at 25°C. This mixed solvent has been used in order to obtain higher concentrations of acetazolamide in solution. For copper(II) and nickel(II), the binuclear species [Cu 2 (Acm) 2 ] and [Ni 2 (Acm) 3 ] 2− are detected in both solvents together with hydroxo species. Cobalt Metal-Organic Framework Based on Layered Double Nanosheets for Enhanced Electrocatalytic Water Oxidation in Neutral Media

A new cobalt metal-organic framework (2D-Co-MOF) based on well-defined layered double cores that are strongly connected by intermolecular bonds has been developed. Its 3D structure is held together by π-π stacking interactions between the labile pyridine ligands of the nanosheets. In aqueous solution, the axial pyridine ligands are exchanged by water molecules, producing a delamination of the material, where the individual double nanosheets preserve their structure. The original 3D layered structure can be restored by a solvothermal process with pyridine, so that the material shows a "memory effect"during the delamination-pillarization process. Dioxygen reduction by cobalt(II) octaethylporphyrin at liquid|liquid interfaces.

Oxygen reduction catalyzed by cobalt(II) (2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-octaethylporphyrin) [Co(OEP)] at soft interfaces is studied by voltammetry and biphasic reactions. When Co(OEP) is present in a solution of 1,2-dichloroethane in contact with an aqueous acidic solution, oxygen is reduced if the interface is positively polarized (water phase versus organic phase). This reduction reaction is facilitated when an additional electron donor, here ferrocene, is present in excess in the organic phase.

Electrochemistry, spectroelectrochemistry, chloride binding, and O2 catalytic reactions of free-base porphyrin-cobalt corrole dyads.

Three face-to-face linked porphyrin-corrole dyads were investigated as to their electrochemistry, spectroelectrochemistry, and chloride-binding properties in dichloromethane or benzonitrile. The same three compounds were also investigated as to their ability to catalyze the electroreduction of dioxygen in aqueous 1 M HClO4 or HCl when adsorbed on a graphite electrode. The characterized compounds are represented as (PCY)H2Co, where P = a porphyrin dianion; C = a corrole trianion; and Y = a biphenylenyl, 9,9-dimethylxanthenyl, or anthracenyl spacer, which links the two macrocycles in a face-to-face arrangement. Cure kinetics of a cobalt catalysed dicyanate ester monomer in air and argon atmospheres from DSC data

A kinetic analysis of the cyclotrimerisation reaction of a dicyanate ester monomer catalysed by cobalt(II) acetylacetonate and nonylphenol in air and argon atmospheres has been carried out by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Dynamic and isothermal DSC scans as well as the glass transition temperature are the experimental data obtained. From isothermal scans a higher cyanate conversion in air than in argon was obtained. The cyanate conversions are satisfactorily described with a second-order kinetic equation in the kinetically controlled region, and by m-order (m<1) equation after vitrification is reached. Two mononuclear cobalt(II) compounds of formula [Co(dmphen)2(OOCPh)]ClO4·1/2H2O·1/2CH3OH (1) and [Co(dmbipy)2(OOCPh)]ClO4 (2) (dmphen = 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline, dmbipy = 6,6'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine and HOOCPh = benzoic acid) are prepared and magnetostructurally investigated. Each cobalt(II) ion is six-coordinate with a distorted octahedral CoN4O2 environment. The complex cations are interlinked leading to supramolecular chains (1) and pairs (2) that grow along the crystallographic c-axis with racemic mixtures of (Δ,Λ)-Co units. Reactivity of H2S and H2S/H2 Mixture With Molybdenum Oxide Thin Films Epitaxied on CoO (100) : Characterization by Rheed and Auger Spectroscopy

Molybdenum-Cobalt composite oxide films were prepared by the evaporation of molybdenum trioxide on a fresh cleaved CoO (100) surface (Thickness = 10 A). The MoO3-CoO interface has been characterized simultaneously by reflexion high electron diffraction (RHEED) and Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES). The thin film structure and composition depend on the annealing temperature. After a 300°C treatment, metallic cobalt islands nucleate at the interface thin film - CoO (100) and crystallize with the cubic FCC symmetry. A Light-Induced Vinylogous Nazarov-Type Cyclization

The first examples of a photochemically induced vinylogous Nazarov-type cyclization forming a cycloheptadienone core are described. The reaction can be included in a three-step cascade consisting of a photochemical isoxazole-azirine ring contraction, cobalt(II)-catalyzed ring expansion, and the photochemical cyclization. Furthermore, the first representative of the hitherto unknown 1-azatricyclo[2.2.0.0(2,6)]hexanes has been identified as a side product of the azirine formation.
