La chiesa di San Giuseppe dei Teatini di Palermo (costruita a partire dal 1619), è un’architettura singolare nel panorama internazionale del Sei-Settecento. La realizzazione di una spregiudicata conformazione basilicale con copertura a volte, impostata su una sequenza di colonne monolitiche giganti nelle navate e nella crociera con cupola con sostegni alti fino a 10m, è il risultato della convergenza di più fattori. This paper is dedicated to the defence of the variant "Polidarius" (and not the correction in the vulgate "Podalirius") that occurs in all the manuscripts of Henry of Septimello's «Elegia» (book IV, line 209). "Polidarius", however, has many attestations in Medieval Troy literary tradition (Joseph of Exeter, Benoît de Sainte-Maure, Guido delle Colonne) and is an alternative, correct and good name for the famous mythical doctor, son of Asclepius and brother of Machaon.

The paper shows the results of an experimental investigation on the behaviour of compressed concrete columns subjected to the overcoring technique. Extraction of cylindrical concrete cores in perpendicular direction to the column surface, was achieved by rotary drilling using a diamond tipped hollow barrel. Core is gradually isolated from the stress field in the surrounding concrete and at every advancing step the re-equilibrium deformation response is measured by means of four strain-gauges, placed on its external surface and near the hole.
