A Non-Parametric Parallel Harris-Affine Detector

This paper describes a parallel version of a new automatic Harris-based corner detector. A simple but effective client-server based scheduler has been implemented in order to dynamically distribute the workload on heterogeneous parallel architectures such as Grid systems. Results obtained on the COMETA Grid show the effectiveness and the robustness of the proposed approach.

This essay is about Michele Cometa, essayist, literary and aesthetic critic and one of the founders of Italian Visual Culture ,both as a cultural approach and as an academic discipline (or, rather, un-discipline). He is responsible for the reception of W.J.T. Mitchell in Italy, having edited the first translations of his works (see, Pictorial Turn. Essays on Visual Culture, 2008, new edition 2017). He also organized the first meeting entirely devoted to the discipline in 2007, hosting the encounter between Mitchell’s Pictorial turn and Belting’s Iconic Turn and the different approaches they gave origin to in Italy.

The Reciprocal Influences among Motivation, Personality Traits, and Game Habits for Playing Pokémon GO

This article reports a study exploring motivations of Pokémon Game use, individual differences related to personality traits, and game habits. First, it analyzed Pokémon GO motivations through exploratory factor analysis (EFA) by administering online the Pokémon GO Motivational Scale to a group of Italian gamers (N = 560). Successively, a Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was conducted testing three factorial models of Pokémon Game motivations on a selected random sample (N = 310). Results showed a three-factor model of Pokémon GO Game motivations (i.e. Personal Needs, Social Needs and Recreation), accounting for 68.9% of total variance plus a general higher order factor that best fits the…
