The Impact of COVID-19 on Sport in Twitter: A Quantitative and Qualitative Content Analysis

The spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus has transformed many aspects of people’s daily life, including sports. Social networks have been flooded on these issues. The present study aims to analyze the tweets produced relating to sports and COVID-19. From the end of January to the beginning of May 2020, over 4,000,000 tweets on this subject were downloaded through the Twitter search API. Once the duplicates, replicas, and retweets were removed, 119,253 original tweets were analyzed. A quantitative–qualitative content analysis was used to study the selected tweets. Contextual factors predicting compliance behavior during the COVID-19 pandemic: A machine learning analysis on survey data from 16 countries.

Voluntary isolation is one of the most effective methods for individuals to help prevent the transmission of diseases such as COVID-19. Understanding why people leave their homes when advised not to do so and identifying what contextual factors predict this non-compliant behavior is essential for policymakers and public health officials. Management of severe asthma during the first lockdown phase of SARS-CoV-2 pandemic: Tips for facing the second wave.

SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has contributed to implement telemedicine, allowing clinicians to follow the patient remotely, therefore minimizing the risk of any exposure to positive COVID-19 patients. We summarize the approaches adopted to treat and monitor severe asthmatic patients during the lockdown phase of the pandemic. Our experience supports the strategy that every effort should be made to minimize patient contact with the health-care system, planning a pathway that allows patients to receive appropriate medical care and continue the biological therapies, thus preventing the loss of disease control and acute severe exacerbations.

Biological, Psychological, and Physical Performance Variations in Football Players during the COVID-19 Lockdown: A Prospective Cohort Study

This prospective cohort study aimed to evaluate whether COVID-19 lockdown caused biological, psychological, and/or physical performance variations in footballers. We compared the 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 seasons evaluating the plasma volume, hematological parameters, iron/ferritin, creatine kinase, vitamin D, cortisol, testosterone, and physiological state of players of the Italian football major league (Serie A).
