Grid Interaction Performance Evaluation of BIPV and Analysis with Energy Storage on Distributed Network Power Management
2017
Doktorgradsavhandling ved Universitetet i Agder, Institutt for informasjons- og kommunikasjonsteknologi, 2017 This research focuses on analysis of photovoltaic (PV) based active generator in microgrid and its utilization in not only for operational planning of the power system but also for instantaneous power flow management in the smart grid environment. The application of this system is part of a solution on handling a large scale deployment of grid connected distributed generators, especially PV system. By implementing the PV based active generator, it will be very flexible able to manage the power delivery from the active generator sources (e.g. PV system, energy storage technologies, a…

2015
Doktorgradsavhandling i informasjons- og kommunikasjonsteknologi, Universitetet i Agder, 2015 Vehicle-to-X (V2X) communication systems are expected to provide tremendous benefits associated with the safety and traffic efficiency on roads. The successful deployment of emerging technologies like V2X requires channel models accurately representing fading statistics in environments where those technologies are used. The accuracy is, of course, a major concern when adapting or developing a suitable channel model for test and evaluation purposes. However, it is also important to take into account the simplicity of a channel model, which is crucial for efficient numerical computations and computer…
Managing data and information quality in construction engineering : a system design approach
2014
Doctoral dissertation, Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, University of Agder 2014 Following the ADR method made it possible not only to develop a tool, but also to formulate design principles and abstract the findings to a generalizable level. This study contributes to knowledge and practice in several ways. First, I offer five design principles for DQ/IQ assessment tools. These design principles are specifically aimed at mitigating the unavoidable challenges and their consequences in construction engineering projects. By accepting these unavoidable challenges and consequences and subsequently providing means for managing the results in a controlled manner, these principles makes it…

Real-Time Motion Compensation in Ship-to-Ship Load Handling
2019
Doktorgradsavhandling Like the automotive industry, the maritime industry is facing a higher demand for autonomous offshore operations. It is therefore in the author’s belief that the marine industry has to develop and implement new technology for both existing and new products to meet the increased autonomy demand. This thesis aims at presenting a unified understanding of the motions and the accompanying load handling issue in ship-to-ship operations. The ship-to-ship kinematics is modeled and a crane operator assistant is developed as a possible solution to increase the so-called weather window of ship-to-ship load transfers. The weather window is today determined by the significant wave …

ERP system implementation in small and medium-sized enterprises
2012
Doktorgradsavhandling i informasjonssystemer, Universitetet i Agder, Kristiansand, 2012 This thesis presents a study of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system implementation in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Compared to large enterprises, SMEs represent fundamentally different environments, with a number of characteristics typifying the SME context. Because of these distinguishing differences, the findings from studies of ERP implementation in large enterprises cannot be fully applied to SMEs. The purpose of this research project is to explore the influences of the SME context on the ERP system implementation, addressing the following overall research question: How does the S…
