An Artificial Decision Maker for Comparing Reference Point Based Interactive Evolutionary Multiobjective Optimization Methods

2021

Comparing interactive evolutionary multiobjective optimization methods is controversial. The main difficulties come from features inherent to interactive solution processes involving real decision makers. The human can be replaced by an artificial decision maker (ADM) to evaluate methods quantitatively. We propose a new ADM to compare reference point based interactive evolutionary methods, where reference points are generated in different ways for the different phases of the solution process. In the learning phase, the ADM explores different parts of the objective space to gain insight about the problem and to identify a region of interest, which is studied more closely in the decision phas…

About the link between the detailed description of transitions in a ion and the average-ion models.

2009

We study the link which exists between microscopic (detailed) models for the evolution of the electronic configurations in a population of ions and the macroscopic (average ion) models. Rigorous asymptotics are presented in situations where they exist (large temperature; almost empty or almost full shells), and numerical simulations are presented.

Biomonitoring pasywny terenów leśnych w gminie Twardogóra

2016

Celem przeprowadzonych badań była ocena poziomu zanieczyszczenia wybranymi metalami ciężkimi: Zn, Ni, Cd i Pb terenów leśnych gminy Twardogóra. Miasto Twardogóra położone jest w północno-wschodniej części województwa dolnośląskiego, lasy stanowią 44% całej powierzchni gminy. Porosty Hypogymnia physodes oraz mchy Pleurozium schreberi pobrane zostały z 32 miejsc zlokalizowanych w pobliżu wsi Gola, Goszcz, Grabowno Wielkie oraz Sosnówka. Wybrane metale ciężkie (Ni, Zn, Cd i Pb) oznaczono metodą absorpcyjnej spektroskopii atomowej. Wyniki badań zinterpretowano, wykorzystując m.in. współczynnik porównawczy CF, będący różnicą w stężeniach analitu zakumulowanego w porostach i w mchach, odniesioną …

The use of ICT in established and emerging tourist destinations: a comparative analysis in hotels

2013

Purpose – Information and communication technologies (ICT) may represent an important source of advantages for service companies. However, the literature suggests that ICT need to be adapted to the demands of the company and its customers. The purpose of this paper is to compare the ICT use in hotels situated in established (i.e. Spain) and emerging (i.e. Croatia) tourist destinations. Design/methodology/approach – Non-hierarchical cluster analysis is performed. Clusters are internally validated by a K-Means cluster analysis and a discriminant analysis. Analysis of variance is applied and contingency tables between cluster membership and hotel characteristics are created. Findings – The res…

A comparison study of evolutive algorithms for solving the partitioning problem in distributed virtual environment systems

2004

Fast Internet connections and the widespread use of high performance graphic cards are making Distributed Virtual Environment (DVE) systems very common nowadays. However, there are several key issues in these systems that should still be improved in order to design a scalable and cost-effective system. One of these key issues is the partitioning problem. This problem consists of efficiently assigning clients (3D avatars) to the servers in the system. In this paper, we present a comparison study of different modern heuristics for solving the partitioning problem in DVE systems, as an alternative to the ad hoc heuristic proposed in the literature. Performance evaluation results show that some…

Economic Robustness Analysis of Adaptive Chart Schemes for Monitoring the Total Nonconformities Number in Inspection Units

2015

In recent years, a variety of enhanced schemes for the c chart have been developed aimed at the effectiveness improving of the related statistical process control (SPC) procedures. However, the performance of such chart schemes can be very sensitive to values assumed for some operating and cost parameters, in particular to the considered process shift magnitude arising from out-of-control conditions. In such a circumstance, the effectiveness of such chart schemes can be subjected to substantial reductions when they are implemented in operative contexts given that, in practice, such value is unknown and it can be very difficult to accurately estimate. For this reason, in the present paper i…
