A virtual testbed for analysis and design of sensorimotoric aspects of agent control

Abstract In this paper XRaptor is introduced, an object-oriented simulation tool. It provides a virtual multi-agent world which acts as testbed for agent control mechanisms. This environment encompasses a 3-dimensional space, in which the agents may move. Currently agents are realized modelling some abstract properties of flies and bats. XRaptor provides different levels of information flow and world manipulation capabilities from the agents' point of view. A further purpose of XRaptor is educational: Different teams of developers may design control units for agents which can then be subjected to a tournament.

Local Monitor Implementation for Decentralized Intrusion Detection in Secure Multi–Agent Systems

This paper focuses on the detection of misbehav- ing agents within a group of mobile robots. A novel approach to automatically synthesize a decentralized Intrusion Detection System (IDS) as well as an efficient implementation of local monitors are presented. In our scenario, agents perform possi- bly different independent tasks, but cooperate to guarantee the entire system’s safety. Indeed, agents plan their next actions by following a set of logic rules which is shared among them. Such rules are decentralized, i.e. they depend only on configurations of neighboring agents. The Use of Cluster Analysis to Segment Clients of a Sport Center in Spain

Abstract This research examines the motivation profiles of 218 consumers at a sport center in Valencia, Spain. We employed the Motivation in Sport Scale (MISS–Sport Center) with the following eight motives (factors): Positive Affect, Social Contact, Physical Exercise, Coping Strategy, Challenge, Body Image, Competition, and Entertainment. There were significant differences in consumers’ motives across gender, age, and marital status. Abstract Background Co-infections of multiple parasite species in hosts may lead to interspecific associations and subsequently shape the structure of a parasite community. Entrepreneurship of an institutional field: the emergence of coworking spaces for digital business model

AbstractCoworking spaces have been proliferating world-wide in urban and rural areas while facilitating entrepreneurship and new, especially digital business models. Our research analyzes the worldwide expansion by drawing upon mechanisms from institutional theory. We argue that the sense of community, emotional activation, the local communities together with the digital linkages and the open office allowed coworking spaces to evolve as a real space for entrepreneurship. ENDOGENOUS TIMING WITH FREE ENTRY

A free entry model with linear costs is considered where firms first choose their entry time and then compete in the market according to the resulting timing decisions. Multiple equilibria arise allowing for infinitely many industry output configurations encompassing one limit-output dominant firm and the Cournot equilibrium with free entry as extreme cases. Sequential entry is never observed. Both Stackelberg and Cournot-like outcomes are sustainable as equilibria however. When the number of incumbents is given, entry is always prevented, and industry output is sometimes larger than the entry preventing level.

Ecotoxicological studies with the freshwater rotifer Brachionus calyciflorus. Resource competition between rotifers and daphnids under toxic stress

Abstract This study examined the ability of the freshwater rotifer Brachionus calyciflorus to coexist with the large cladoceran Daphnia magna, and the effect of sublethal concentrations of copper on the competition between both species. Preliminary laboratory experiments showed that large Daphnia (> 1.2 mm) can kill and rapidly exclude the rotifer B. calyciflorus in mixed-species cultures. Brachionus populations were suppressed by Daphnia both through exploitative competition for shared, limited food resources and through mechanical interference.
