Scherk-Schwarz reduction of D=5 special and quaternionic geometry

2004

We give the N=2 gauged supergravity interpretation of a generic D=4, N=2 theory as it comes from generalized Scherk-Schwarz reduction of D=5, N=2 (ungauged) supergravity. We focus on the geometric aspects of the D=4 data such as the general form of the scalar potential and masses in terms of the gauging of a ``flat group''. Higgs and super-Higgs mechanism are discussed in some detail.

Spin and charge orderings in the atomic limit of the U-V-J model

2011

In this paper we study a generalization of the 1D Hubbard model by considering density-density and Ising-type spin-spin nearest neighbor (NN) interactions, parameterized by $V$ and $J$, respectively. We present the T=0 phase diagram for both ferro ($J>0$) and anti-ferro ($J<0$) coupling obtained in the narrow-band limit by means of an extension to zero-temperature of the transfer-matrix method. Based on the values of the Hamiltonian parameters, we identify a number of phases that involve orderings of the double occupancy, NN density and spin correlations, being these latter very fragile.

Isospin triplet A=14: search for states with enhanced radii

2020

Abstract This article is devoted to study of isobar-analogue states 1− in triplet A=14: 14C-14N-14O. Previously signs of neutron halo in the 1−, 6.09 MeV state of 14C were obtained by two independent groups. In this article we propose to study neighbouring nuclei 14N and 14O using the Modified diffraction model (MDM) method and the method of Asymptotic normalization coefficients (ANC). Methods were applied to experimental differential cross sections of 14C(α,α)14C scattering and reactions 13C(3He,d)14N and 14N(3He,t)14O. MDM and ANC gave practically similar within errors radii for the studied 1− states: the 6.09 MeV state in 14C – 2.7±0.1 fm, the 8.06 MeV state in 14N – 2.7 ± 0.1 fm, the 5.…

Experimental studies of the NaRb ground-state potential up to thev″=76level

2002

Laser induced fluorescence spectra of the C {sup 1}{sigma}{sup +}-X {sup 1}{sigma}{sup +} system of {sup 23}Na{sup 85}Rb and {sup 23}Na{sup 87}Rb have allowed vibrational levels of the electronic ground state up to v{sup ''}=76, spanning 99.85% of the potential well to be observed. The ground-state term values have been fitted to a Dunham polynomial expansion, and also to a direct modified Lennard-Jones (MLJ) potential. The analytical MLJ construction allowed us to match previous measured term values for v{sup ''}{<=}30 with long-range behavior of the potential through the intermediate internuclear distance region covered by the present investigation.

Searches for the decaysB0→l±τ∓andB+→l+ν(l=e,μ) using hadronic tag reconstruction

2008

We present searches for the leptonic decays B{sup +} {yields} {ell}{sup +}{nu} and the lepton flavor violating decays B{sup 0} {yields} {ell}{sup {+-}}{tau}{sup {-+}}, where {ell} = e, {mu}, with data collected by the BABAR experiment at SLAC. This search demonstrates a novel technique in which we fully reconstruct the accompanying {bar B} in {Upsilon}(4S) {yields} B{bar B} events, and look for a monoenergetic lepton from the signal B decay. The signal yield is extracted from a fit to the signal lepton candidate momentum distribution in the signal B rest frame. Using a data sample of approximately 378 million B{bar B} pairs (342 fb{sup -1}), we find no evidence of signal in any of the decay…

Measurement of theB0→D*−Ds*+andDs+→ϕπ+branching fractions

2005

The authors present measurements of the branching fractions {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} D*{sup -}D*{sub s}{sup +}) and {Beta}(D{sub s}{sup +} {yields} {phi}{pi}{sup +}), based on 123 x 10{sup 6} {Upsilon}(4S) {yields} B{bar B} decays collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e{sup +}e{sup -} B factory. A partial reconstruction technique is used to measure {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} D*{sup -}D*{sub s}{sup +}) and the decay chain is fully reconstructed to measure the branching fraction product {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} D*{sup -} D*{sub s}{sup +}) x {Beta}(D{sub s}{sup +} {yields} {phi}{pi}{sup +}). Comparing these two measurements provides a model-independent determination of …

Exclusive production ofDs+Ds−,Ds*+Ds−, andDs*+Ds*−viae+e−annihilation with initial-state radiation

2010

We perform a study of exclusive production of D{sub s}{sup +}D{sub s}{sup -}, D{sub s}{sup *+}D{sub s}{sup -}, and D{sub s}{sup *+}D{sub s}{sup *-} final states in initial-state-radiation events from e{sup +}e{sup -} annihilations at a center-of-mass energy near 10.58 GeV, to search for charmonium 1{sup --} states. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 525 fb{sup -1} and was recorded by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II storage ring. The D{sub s}{sup +}D{sub s}{sup -}, D{sub s}{sup *+}D{sub s}{sup -}, and D{sub s}{sup *+}D{sub s}{sup *-} mass spectra show evidence of the known {psi} resonances. Limits are extracted for the branching ratios of the decays X(4260){yields}…

Search forB0meson decays toπ0KS0KS0,ηKS0KS0, andη′KS0KS0

2009

We describe searches for B{sup 0} meson decays to the charmless final states {pi}{sup 0}K{sub S}{sup 0}K{sub S}{sup 0}, {eta}K{sub S}{sup 0}K{sub S}{sup 0}, and {eta}{prime}K{sub S}{sup 0}K{sub S}{sup 0}. The data sample corresponds to 467 x 10{sup 6} B{bar B} pairs produced in e{sup +}e{sup -} annihilation and collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. We find no significant signals and determine the 90% confidence level upper limits on the branching fractions, in units of 10{sup -7}, {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} {pi}{sup 0}K{sub S}{sup 0}K{sub S}{sup 0}) < 12, {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} {eta}K{sub S}{sup 0}K{sub S}{sup 0}) < 10, and {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} {…

Neutron to mirror-neutron oscillations in the presence of mirror magnetic fields

2009

We performed ultracold neutron (UCN) storage measurements to search for additional losses due to neutron (n) to mirror-neutron (n') oscillations as a function of an applied magnetic field B. In the presence of a mirror magnetic field B', UCN losses would be maximal for B = B'. We did not observe any indication for nn' oscillations and placed a lower limit on the oscillation time of tau_{nn'} > 12.0 s at 95% C.L. for any B' between 0 and 12.5 uT.

Updated Search for the Flavor-Changing Neutral-Current Decay D^0 \to {\mu} + {\mu}-

2010

We report on a search for the flavor-changing neutral-current decay D0 \to {\mu}+ {\mu}- in pp collisions at \surd s = 1.96 TeV using 360 pb-1 of integrated luminosity collected by the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. A displaced vertex trigger selects long-lived D0 candidates in the {\mu}+ {\mu}-, {\pi}+{\pi}-, and K-{\pi}+ decay modes. We use the Cabibbo-favored D0 \to K-{\pi}+ channel to optimize the selection criteria in an unbiased manner, and the kinematically similar D0 \to{\pi}+ {\pi}- channel for normalization. We set an upper limit on the branching fraction (D0 --> {\mu}+ {\mu}-) < 2.1 E-7 (3.0 E-7) at the 90% (95%) confidence level.
