Derivation of Models for Thin Sprays from a Multiphase Boltzmann Model

We shall review the validation of a class of models for thin sprays where a Vlasov type equation is coupled to an hydrodynamic equation of Navier–Stokes or Stokes type. We present a formal derivation of these models from a multiphase Boltzmann system for a binary mixture: under suitable assumptions on the collision kernels and in appropriate asymptotics (resp. for the two different limit models), we prove the convergence of solutions to the multiphase Boltzmann model to distributional solutions to the Vlasov–Navier–Stokes or Vlasov–Stokes system. A comparison of five C3 variant samples has been performed by conventional high-voltage gel electrophoresis in three laboratories (Palermo, Berlin and Mainz). Local designation was shown within SD = ±0.75 mm migration distance in the Mainz laboratory. Methodological modifications by laboratories were not accounted for (cooling temperature, relative mobilities between runs). In parallel, all reference samples were also sequenced after exon-specific amplification. Robust and accurate human activity recognition (HAR) systems are essential to many human-centric services within active assisted living and healthcare facilities. Traditional HAR systems mostly leverage a single sensing modality (e.g., either wearable, vision, or radio frequency sensing) combined with machine learning techniques to recognize human activities. Such unimodal HAR systems do not cope well with real-time changes in the environment. To overcome this limitation, new HAR systems that incorporate multiple sensing modalities are needed. Online assessment of strategic reading literacy skills

This study investigates the possibility of assessing strategic reading literacy skills with computers. The critical value of this assessment is the recording of online indices of the reader's behavior that can be interpreted in terms of strategies. Familial hypobetalipoproteinemia (FHBL) is a genetically heterogeneous condition characterized by very low apolipoprotein B (apoB) concentrations in plasma and/or low levels of LDL-cholesterol (LDL-C) with a propensity to developing fatty liver. In a minority of cases, truncation-specifying mutations of the apoB gene (APOB) are etiologic, but the genetic basis of most cases is unknown. We previously reported linkage of FHBL to a 10 cM region on 3p21.1-22 in one kindred. C1q acts in the tumour microenvironment as a cancer-promoting factor independently of complement activation

Complement C1q is the activator of the classical pathway. However, it is now recognized that C1q can exert functions unrelated to complement activation. Here we show that C1q, but not C4, is expressed in the stroma and vascular endothelium of several human malignant tumours. Compared with wild-type (WT) or C3- or C5-deficient mice, C1q-deficient (C1qa−/−) mice bearing a syngeneic B16 melanoma exhibit a slower tumour growth and prolonged survival. This effect is not attributable to differences in the tumour-infiltrating immune cells.
