Abstract Partial melting experiments at 40, 50 and 60 kbar pressure on three peridotite compositions with 0.5–0.63 wt.% H2O and 2.0–3.2 wt.% CO2 added indicate melting temperatures only marginally above continental geotherms. Most experiments were performed on a composition with 1.5 wt.% K2O added, which causes a further decrease of about 40 °C in melting temperature. Abstract Mantle peridotite xenoliths ranging in modal composition between fertile lherzolites and modally metasomatized harzburgites, and magmatic pyroxenite xenoliths from the West Eifel and Vogelsberg volcanic fields (Germany) have been analyzed for their whole rock major and minor elements, six platinum-group elements PGE (PGE: Os, Ir, Pt, Ru, Rh, Pd), Re and Au, rare earth elements (REE), and several other trace elements (e.g., As, Ta). The lanthanum-lead and iron-niobium coupled substitution in PbNb 2 O 6 have allowed to isolate new materials of a general formula Pb 0.5(5-x) La x Nb 5-x Fe x O 15 crystallising with the tetragonal tungsten bronze structural type. The resulting influence on the lattice parameters, the ferroelectric Curie temperature and Cole - Cole plots are presented. A typical ferroelectric - paraelectric behaviour occurs in the composition range 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.33 while, a relaxor behaviour is observed in the composition range 0.33 < x < 1.
Propolis-Based Nanofiber Patches to Repair Corneal Microbial Keratitis

In this research, polyvinyl-alcohol (PVA)/gelatin (GEL)/propolis (Ps) biocompatible nanofiber patches were fabricated via electrospinning technique. The controlled release of Propolis, surface wettability behaviors, antimicrobial activities against the S. aureus and P. aeruginosa, and biocompatibility properties with the mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) were investigated in detail. By adding 0.5, 1, and 3 wt.% GEL into the 13 wt.% PVA, the morphological and mechanical results suggested that 13 wt.% PVA/0.5 wt.% GEL patch can be an ideal matrix for 3 and 5 wt.% propolis addition. The chemical composition of the essential oil of Helichrysum italicum (Roth) Don ssp. italicum, collected in the National Park of Cilento and Diano Valley, Southern Italy, was studied by means of GC and GC/MS. Forty four compounds of 45 constituents were identified in the oil, mainly oxygenated sesquiterpenes. The essential oil was evaluated for its potential in vitro phytotoxic activity against germination and early radicle elongation of radish and garden cress. The radicle elongation of radish was significantly inhibited at the highest doses tested, while germination of both seeds was not affected.

This paper reports on the volatile components of oils from the aerial parts (CBA) and roots (CBR) of Centaurea bracteata Scop. and aerial parts of C. pannonica (Heuffel) Simonkai subsp. pannonica (CPA), two Asteraceae growing wild in Croatia. The volatile components, obtained by hydrodistillation, were determined by GC-MS analysis. The yields (w/w) of the dried oils were 0.10% (CBA), 0.22% (CBR) and 0.09% (CPA), respectively. A total of 91 compounds were identified accounting for 91.1%, 93.3% and 87.9% of the total oil for CBA, CBR and CPA, respectively. Abstract Four analytical wavelengths of iron (238.204, 239.562, 259.940, and 240.488 nm) were tested for determination of Fe in fertilizers by inductively cou pled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP AES). Variations in measurements were caused by the changing interference pattern at different wave lengths evaluated by multiple linear regression. Thus, results obtained with different wavelengths are not comparable. Ca, P, and K were typical ele ments causing interference in almost all examined Fe wavelengths. Wavelength Fe II 238.204 nm is the best wavelength for determination of Fe in fertiliz ers by ICP-AES. Method accuracy is ± 8% at the ex amined Fe levels in fertilizers.
