Calcul des contributions des incertitudes dans un modèle complexe de qualité de l'eau
2010
The quantification of uncertainty in integrated urban drainage water quality models is of paramount interest. Indeed, the assessment of the reliability of the model results for complex water quality models is useful for understanding the significance of the results. However, the state of knowledge regarding uncertainties in urban drainage models is poor. In the case of integrated urban drainage water quality models, due to the fact that integrated approaches are basically a cascade of sub-models (simulating sewer system, wastewater treatment plant and receiving water body), the uncertainty produced in one sub-model propagates to the following ones depending on the model structure, the estim…

Isolation of soil lignins by combination of ball-milling and cellulolysis: Evaluation of purity and isolation efficiency with pyrolysis/GC/MS
2009
Abstract CuO oxidation is traditionally used for soil lignin study, although, like other degradation methods it might give access only to a part of the lignin polymers. For structural characterization, lignins are conventionally isolated from plant material by combining ball-milling, cellulolysis and solvent extraction to recover a milled wall enzymatic lignin (MWEL) fraction. This method might isolate condensed lignins, which are not accounted for CuO oxidation. MWELs are still associated with polysaccharides. This study aimed to evaluate if the MWEL method can be used complementary to CuO oxidation for soil lignin studies. We assessed the purity of isolated lignins by pyrolytic characteri…
Lichen used to assess nickel atmospheric dispersion, an example of New Caledonia Asbestos and best practices View project Atmospheric signature in ma…
2015
International audience; Fifteen epiphytic lichens, collected near an active nickel mine and along an East-West transect across New Caledonia island (South-West Pacific), were analyzed for their metal contents. The purpose is to evaluate atmospheric metal contamination and the impact of mining exploitation on the surroundings. The structure of the compositional dataset was explored using a covariance biplot. The score of the first principal component was used as a generic indicator to locally evaluate the degree of contamination. This study demonstrates that Ni, Co and Cr are highly concentrated in lichens near mining exploitation.
Studying the interplay between sulfur nutrition and water stress tolerance in pea by proteomics : a focus on seed development and composition
2019
International audience; Water stress and sulfur-deficiency are two constraints increasingly faced by crops due to climatechange and low-input practices. To investigate their interplay in the grain legume pea (Pisum sativumL.), sulfate was depleted at mid-vegetative stage and a moderate 9-day water stress period was imposedduring the early reproductive phase. The combined stress accelerated seed production, lowering yield,one-seed weight and seed number per plant, but rebalanced seed protein composition. In fact, themoderate water stress mitigated the negative effect of sulfur-deficiency on the accumulation of sulfurrichproteins in seeds, probably due to a lower seed sink strength for nitrog…
Mise en évidence du rôle de la diversité dans la dynamique des communautés d'adventices et des interactions adventices/cultures
2020
The main challenge of 21st century agriculture is to provide sufficient food for a growing to identify cropping systems which maintain crop productivity, minimize reliance on synthetic herbicides and nitrogen fertilizers, and promote weed diversity. We hypothesized that cropping system diversification, either at the annual scale through the introduction of cover crops, or at the plurennial scale through a diversification of the crop sequence and associated weed management tools, could be a viable means to reach these objectives. More specifically, we hypothesized that cropping system diversification could (i) contain weed abundance and thereby, allow a reduction of herbicide use and an incr…
Chocolates classification according to their volatile compounds fingerprints measured by PTR-ToF-MS
2017
Dark chocolates develop several organoleptic characteristics depending on cocoa origin, cocoa variety and fabrication process. These parameters influence the chemical composition of the chocolates, and among other components volatile organic compounds (VOCs) responsible for aroma mainly determine their sensory perception. Sensory evaluation is able to discriminate chocolates with various organoleptic properties. Proton Transfer Reaction Mass Spectrometry (PTR-MS) is capable of monitoring VOCs released in foodstuffs headspace at ppb level in real time. But is PTR-MS able to discriminate chocolates as sensory analysis does? To answer this question, 192 dark chocolates produced from cocoa bean…
