Application Of Anamorphic Systems To Directional Pseudocolor Encoding

An optical nonsymmetrical imaging system composed of two anamorphic spectrum analyzers in cascade is implemented. This system can provide an undistorted final image in spite of the geometrical distortion effects in the intermediate Fourier plane. The introduction of chromatic sector filters in this plane provides a real-time technique to pseudocolor encode the spatial frequency information of a black-and-white transparency. Abstract The paper is concerned with two of main research activities currently carried on at the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence lab of DIE. The first part deals with hybrid artificial vision models, intended to provide object recognition and classification capabilities to an autonomous intelligen system. Visually induced motion sickness is an unpleasant but common side-effect of many simulations and VR-applications. We investigated whether an earth-fixed reference frame provided in the simulation is able to reduce motion sickness. To do so, we created a moving starfield that did not contain any indicators of the spatial orientation of the observer. The observer wore a head-mounted display (HTC Vive) and was simulated to move through the randomly oscillating starfield, a time-to-contact task had to be carried out. Cognitive intelligent sensory system for vision-based quality control

This paper presents an original approach for a vision-based quality control system, built around a cognitive intelligent sensory system. The principle of the approach relies on two steps. First, a so-called initialization phase leads to structural knowledge on image acquisition conditions, type of illumination sources, etc. Second, the image is iteratively evaluated using this knowledge and complementary information (e.g., CAD models, and tolerance information). Abstract Fibre rope usage in deep sea lifting operations is gaining more prominence in recent times. With rope minimum break loads (MBL) comparable to that of their steel wire counterparts, the use of high modulus polyethylene (HMPE) ropes is seen as a viable option for use in subsea construction cranes. The ropes are worn out during use and visual inspection remains one of the main methods of determining whether a fibre rope is to be retired from use, therefore a natural extension is condition monitoring through computer vision. SmartSpectra: Applying multispectral imaging to industrial environments

SmartSpectra is a smart multispectral system for industrial, environmental, and commercial applications where the use of spectral information beyond the visible range is needed. The SmartSpectra system provides six spectral bands in the range 400-1000nm. The bands are configurable in terms of central wavelength and bandwidth by using electronic tunable filters. SmartSpectra consists of a multispectral sensor and the software that controls the system and simplifies the acquisition process. Abstract Medical images include confidential and sensitive information about patients. Hence, ensuring the security of these images is a crucial requirement. This paper proposes an efficient and secure medical image encryption‐decryption scheme based on deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), one‐dimensional chaotic maps (tent and logistic maps), and hash functions (SHA‐256 and MD5). The first part of the proposed scheme is the key generation based on the hash functions of the image and its metadata. The key then is highly related and intensely sensitive to the original image. This paper presents adaptable methods for achieving fast collision detection using the GPU and Nvidia CUDA together with Octrees. Earlier related work have focused on serial methods, while this paper presents a parallel solution which shows that there is a great increase in time if the number of operations is large.
