FAME: Software for analysing rock microstructures

Determination of rock microstructures leads to a better understanding of the formation and deformation of polycrystalline solids. Here, we present FAME (Fabric Analyser based Microstructure Evaluation), an easy-to-use MATLAB®-based software for processing datasets recorded by an automated fabric analyser microscope. FAME is provided as a MATLAB®-independent Windows® executable with an intuitive graphical user interface. Raw data from the fabric analyser microscope can be automatically loaded, filtered and cropped before analysis. Geophysical prospection of the Roman city of Pollentia, Alcúdia (Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain)

Abstract We present the results of the geophysical investigation carried out in the Roman city of Pollentia, in the island of Mallorca. The ancient city was identified in the 19th century. Old and new archaeological excavations have helped to uncover a residential area, a theatre, the forum, several necropolises and other remains of the city, but a large unexplored area has still to be investigated. For instance, the limits of the ancient town and the presence of harbour structures are still unknown. Conf-VLKA: A structure-based revisitation of the Virtual Lock-and-key Approach

In a previous work, we developed the in house Virtual Lock-and-Key Approach (VLKA) in order to evaluate target assignment starting from molecular descriptors calculated on known inhibitors used as an information source. This protocol was able to predict the correct biological target for the whole dataset with a good degree of reliability (80%), and proved experimentally, which was useful for the target fishing of unknown compounds. Repeat proteins are a widespread class of non-globular proteins carrying heterogeneous functions involved in several diseases.
