Experimental Investigation of Efficiency Map for an Inverter-Fed Surface-Mount Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

Losses in inverter-fed permanent magnet motors are underestimated by using analytical or numerical approach since additional losses due to extra harmonics of the frequency converter are normally skipped. Further, losses in switches and passive components of the converter and the effect of switching frequencies cannot be numerically taken into consideration. Loss-minimizing control and proper efficiency analysis of inverter-fed permanent magnet motors cannot be achieved if an efficiency map is built based on a numerical investigation of the motors alone. On asymmetric periodic solutions in relay feedback systems

Abstract Asymmetric self-excited periodic motions or periodic solutions which are produced by relay feedback systems that have symmetric characteristics are studied in the paper. Two different mechanisms of producing an asymmetric oscillation by a system with symmetric properties are noted and analyzed by the locus of a perturbed relay system (LPRS) method. Bifurcation between the ability to excite symmetric and asymmetric oscillation with variation of system parameters is analyzed. An algorithm of finding asymmetric solutions is proposed.

The Acoustic Wave Behavior Within the PEA Cell for Space Charge Measurement

In order to evaluate the acoustic wave behavior within the Pulsed Electro Acoustic (PEA) cell, a simulation model has been developed in this work. The model, implemented in Matlab environment, is based on the analogy between acoustic and electrical quantities. Therefore, it was possible to model the PEA cell as cascade connected lossy transmission lines. The model has been validated theoretically by making a comparison with a simulation result found in literature. Identification of parameters and harmonic losses of a deep-bar induction motor

High frequency harmonics from a frequency converter causes additional losses in a deep-bar induction motor. The harmonics have their own amplitude and phase with respect to the fundamental signal, but the harmonic loss is only dependent on the amplitude of harmonics. A deep-bar induction motor can be modelled by a triple-cage circuit to take skin effect into account. The triple cage circuit having many parameters could be estimated from a small-signal model of the machine by using Differential Evolution. Mass calibration of the energy axis in ToF- E elastic recoil detection analysis

We report on procedures that we have developed to mass-calibrate the energy axis of ToF-E histograms in elastic recoil detection analysis. The obtained calibration parameters allow one to transform the ToF-E histogram into a calibrated ToF-M histogram.

The GTS-LHC ECR ion source (named after the Grenoble Test Source and the Large Hadron Collider) at CERN provides heavy ion beams for the chain of accelerators from Linac3 up to the LHC for high energy collision experiments and to the Super Proton Synchrotron for fixed target experiments.
