Synthetic gene circuits allow programming in DNA the expression of a phenotype at a given environmental condition. The recent integration of memory systems with gene circuits opens the door to their adaptation to new conditions and their re-programming. This lays the foundation to emulate neuromorphic behaviour and solve complex problems similarly to artificial neural networks. Abstract The odorous volatile compounds produced by 3 strains (out of 25 strains tested) of Phlebia radiata Fr. were investigated on six synthetic media and identified by GC-MS analysis. One of the 3 strains was odourless. Aromatic primary alcohols and a sesquiterpenic alcohol, α-bisabolol, were the most abundant metabolites for both of the other strains, which exhibited similar flavours and a similar gas chromatographic profile.

Neurotensin receptor 1 (NTS1) is involved in the development and progression of numerous cancers, which makes it an interesting target for the development of diagnostic and therapeutic agents. A small molecule NTS1 antagonist, named [177Lu]Lu-IPN01087, is currently evaluated in phase I/II clinical trials for the targeted therapy of neurotensin receptor-positive cancers. In this study, we synthesized seven compounds based on the structure of NTS1 antagonists, bearing different chelating agents, and radiolabeled them with gallium-68 for PET imaging. Isolation and characterisation of new Gram-negative and Gram-positive atrazine degrading bacteria from different French soils

The capacity of 12 soils to degrade atrazine was studied in laboratory incubations using radiolabelled atrazine. Eight soils showed enhanced degradation of this compound. Twenty-five bacterial strains able to degrade atrazine were isolated by an enrichment method from 10 of these soils. These soils were chosen for their wide range of physico-chemical characteristics. Their history of treatment with atrazine was also variable. The genetic diversity of atrazine degraders was determined by amplified ribosomal restriction analysis (ARDRA) of the 16S rDNA gene with three restriction endonucleases. Towards identifying drug side effects from social media using active learning and crowd sourcing.

Motivation Social media is a largely untapped source of information on side effects of drugs. Twitter in particular is widely used to report on everyday events and personal ailments. However, labeling this noisy data is a difficult problem because labeled training data is sparse and automatic labeling is error-prone. Crowd sourcing can help in such a scenario to obtain more reliable labels, but is expensive in comparison because workers have to be paid. To remedy this, semi-supervised active learning may reduce the number of labeled data needed and focus the manual labeling process on important information. Influence of label and location of testing on acceptability of cream cheese varying in fat content

The acceptability of low-, medium- and high-fat versions of a cream cheese to consumers was measured in different conditions by rating overall distance from ideal. The influence of label (unlabelled vs. commercial package) differed according to the cream cheese fat-level habits of the assessors and to the fat level of the product. In labelled testing, high-fat cream cheese was more highly accepted by high- and medium-fat users and low-fat cream cheese seemed to be further from ideal for high-fat users. The location of testing (home vs. laboratory) affected the rating of only the high-fat product: consumers are more severe on it at home than in the laboratory.

Cet article se propose d’envisager le rapport entre deprise et recit de soi comme source de continuite identitaire dans une perspective philosophique, en reference a la notion d’identite narrative de Paul Ricœur. Si le recit de soi permet de mettre en forme le temps que l’on vit sans supposer un noyau non changeant de l’identite, ce recit devrait favoriser le processus de deprise.
