A fuzzy-based tool for modelization and analysis of the vulnerability of aquifers: a case study

Abstract A fuzzy-based tool, called FUZZY-SRA (Fuzzy Spatial Reliability Analysis), is used for realizing a more “reliable” study of the values of the final parameters concerning the vulnerability of aquifers located in the territory of Cava de' Tirreni, city in the district of Salerno (Italy). The SINTACS method is adopted for evaluating the involved parameters and these evaluations are modelled from attributes represented from triangular fuzzy numbers which supply the overall final information if combined with suitable algebraic operations. The tool FUZZY-SRA is implemented inside a GIS (Geographical Information Systems) software.

Voice and gestures are natural sketching tools that can be exploited to communicate sonic interactions. In product and interaction design, sounds should be included in the early stages of the design process. Scientists of human motion have shown that auditory stimuli are important in the performance of difficult tasks and can elicit anticipatory postural adjustments in athletes. A hybrid statistical decision-making optimization approach for groundwater vulnerability considering uncertainty.

Recognizing the vulnerable areas for contamination is a feasible way to protect groundwater resources. The main contribution of the paper is developing a hybrid statistical decision-making model for evaluating the vulnerability of Shiraz aquifer, southern Iran, with modified DRASTIC (depth to the water table, net recharge, aquifer media, soil media, topography, impact of the vadose zone, and hydraulic conductivity) by using the genetic algorithm (GA), the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) method, and factorial analysis (FA). Global connectedness in higher education : student voices on the value of cross-cultural learning dialogue

The study explores how sense of global connectedness can be enhanced by creating opportunities for cross-cultural dialogue in higher education. Thematic analysis of randomly selected 15 learning journals, students’ reflections on their learning during an international seminar was used to identify students’ significant learning experiences. Imidazolium-2-carboxylate as an afficient, expeditious and eco-friendly organocatalyst for glycerol carbonate synthesis

An improved and greener approach towards the synthesis of glycerol carbonate, via transesterification, using 1-n-butyl-3-methylimidazolium-2-carboxylate as catalyst is described. The catalyst loading as low as 1% was sufficient to yield quantitative conversions. A plausible mechanism is proposed for the catalytic cycle leading to product formation.

Fostering sustained teacher learning: a longitudinal assessment of the influence of vision building and goal interdependence on information sharing

To support school improvement, understanding the mechanisms that enhance teachers’ engagement in professional learning activities within schools over time is paramount. The purpose of this three-wave longitudinal study is to examine the role of workplace conditions (school leaders’ vision building and teams’ shared goals), in supporting teachers’ engagement in information sharing over time.
