De la performance musicale dans la Guyane traditionnelle : expression cognitive singulière d?une musique-verbe

2021

Guianese culture and traditional music, here evoked, are various. It is more a transcultural process that, along centuries, gave an original result born in the Americas, in Guiana in this case. It is a form of refoundation, of recreation of cultures and new human beings generally called Creoles. The musical performance, that I study here, is the echo of social and cultural space of this reformulation of thought, life, and conception of the world. It is, as well, a mean of transposition and transformation of the values issued of diverse sources and categories. It is in no way a second-rate cultural practice, as it is the place where were born philosophies and actions for common life as well …

as it is the place where were born philosophies and actions for common life as well as for individual life. This organization of the musical experience requires several levels of readings to better understand the underlying performance that is the issue discussed here. What is then the subject of the musical performance in French Guianese traditional society? What are the implementation techniques and the intrinsic forms of knowledge? What is the creation process and for what goal? Without a doubtlifeUNESCO::CIENCIAS DE LAS ARTES Y LAS LETRASand conception of the world. Atoms embedded in an electron gas: Phase shifts and cross sections

1983

The Fermi-level scattering phase shifts and the transport cross sections are reported for atoms embedded in a homogeneous electron gas. The applications of the results are discussed, using the electronic stopping power for slow ions and impurity resistivity as examples. Peer reviewed

Preparation and characterisation of optical and optoelectronic devices based in two-dimensional semiconductors

2020

In the Materials Science field, two-dimensional materials have gained the scientific community attention in recent years. The change and the appearance of novel properties when their thickness is reduced to nanometric scale has special interest for its fundamental properties study for, from this base, the design and its implementation in devices. The wide variety of materials with the possibility of being exfoliated at the two-dimensional level opens the field to different applications, from optoelectronic devices, detection and sensing, energy storage, catalysis, medical applications and quantum information technologies, among others. This thesis gathers results in both directions: a funda…

An interpretation of EPR spectra of azide ligated superoxide dismutase from Propionibacterium shermanii

1995

A self-consistent description of the EPR spectra of the azide ligated SOD is obtained by taking into account the general configuration of the crystal field splitting in the crystal field Hamiltonian. The spread in the rhombicity parameter due to the presence of different conformational substates is introduced.

Growth and biomass partitioning of Arbutus unedo, Laurus nobilis, Phillyrea angustifolia and Rhamnus alaternus seedlings under water deficit

2013

Water scarcity in the Mediterranean areas is very common and the selection of drought tolerant species is a priority for landscaping purposes in the Mediterranean areas. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of water deficit on growth and biomass partitioning of Arbutus unedo, Laurus nobilis, Phillyrea angustifolia and Rhamnus alaternus. Seventy-two seedlings per species were grown in the greenhouse in 4-liter pots and three water regimes were imposed starting on 6 April and until 9 June, 2010. One-third of the plants was well irrigated to maintain soil water content in the 25-35% range (CTR); a second group of plants was deficit-irrigated to maintain soil water content in …

The relationship of hydraulic conductance to root system characteristics of peach (Prunus persica) rootstocks

2006

Specific rootstocks can differentially influence the vegetative growth and development of fruit trees. However, the physiological mechanism involved in this phenomenon has been elusive. Recent research comparing different peach (Prunus persica L. Batsch) rootstocks suggests that the rootstock effect on vegetative growth in peach trees is associated to water relations and more specifically to differences in rootstock hydraulic conductance. This study was intended to confirm differences in hydraulic characteristics of similar size peach trees grafted on different rootstocks and to examine root system characteristics that could be associated with rootstock hydraulic limitations. Trees on roots…

Conductive and Capacitive Properties of the Bipolar Membrane Junction Studied by AC Impedance Spectroscopy

2001

The complete ac impedance spectrum of four bipolar membranes is analyzed both theoretically and experimentally taking into account both ionic transport and water dissociation together with the structural aspects of the bipolar junction. A theoretical model based on the Nernst-Planck and Poisson equations for the conductive and capacitive properties of the junction provides a qualitative description of the bipolar membranes for a broad range of electric currents and temperatures. Special attention is paid to the characteristics of the bipolar junction structure and the contact region between the two ion-exchange layers. It is observed that the effective area of this region increases with the…

Numerical 3D study of FZ growth: dependence on growth parameters and melt instability

2001

Three-dimensional modelling of the floating zone (needle-eye) crystal growth process is carried out to analyse numerically the stability of the melt flow and the influence of the crystal rotation rate and inductor slit width on the 3D flow field and on the grown crystal resistivity. The unsteadiness of the melt is simulated and it is found that for the considered growth parameters a steady-state flow can be a reasonable approximation to the unsteady melt motion. The parametric studies have shown that increasing the rotation rate essentially changes the flow pattern and weakens the rotational striations, while the inductor slit width has a more local influence on these characteristics.

Quantum wells within quantum dots, a CdS/HgS nanoheterostructure with global and local confinement

1998

Semiconductor nanocrystals prepared by methods of wet chemistry are similar to MBE grown quantum dots where the mobility of the charge carriers is reduced to zero dimensionality. In this paper we summarize the physics of a unique system in which the charge carriers are locally confined within a heterogeneous quantum dot. With high resolution electron microscopy we will show that epitaxial growth ot atomic layer precision is possible by methods of solution chemistry leading to CdS quantum dots with embedded HgS quantum wells (QDQWs). The photophysics of this system is investigated by time-correlated single photon counting, transient differential absorption and fluorescence line narrowing spe…

Co-adsorption processes, kinetics and quantum mechanical modelling of nanofilm semiconductor gas sensors

2010

A quantum mechanical model of co-adsorption on semiconductor surfaces is developed and successfully adopted towards exposure to several gases. It is related to nanofilms and thus allows the application of electric fields altering the electronic surface properties of adsorption centres (electro-adsorptive effect, EAE). The model is matched against experimental data with O 2 , NO 2 and CO measurements under the hypothesis of no direct interaction among the species. However the sequence of adsorption plays an important role where the adsorption of one gas species is opening up other sites that are filled by another sort of impinging molecules. Quantum mechanical modelling of co-adsorption: (a)…
