AbstractThe genetic conflict between parents and their offspring is a cornerstone of kin selection theory and the gene-centred view of evolution, but whether it actually occurs in natural systems remains an open question. Conflict operates only if parenting is driven by genetic trade-offs between offspring performance and the parent’s ability to raise additional offspring, and its expression critically depends on the shape of these trade-offs. This article aims to investigate how the asymmetrical (political and economic) power relations can influence the effectiveness of planning systems at the local governance level, producing conflicting forms between land transformation and protection of natural interest sites. The article demonstrates how this condition can generate severe forms of environmental and social injustice through the case study of the M.U.O.S. of Niscemi (Mobile User Objective System). The role of expectation in music: from the score to emotions and the brain

Like discourse, music is a dynamic process that occurs over time. Listeners usually expect some events or structures of events to occur in the prolongation of a given context. Part of the musical emotional experience would depend upon how composers (improvisers) fulfill these expectancies. Musical expectations are a core phenomenon of music cognition, and the present article provides an overview of its foundation in the score as well as in listeners' behavior and brain, and how it can be simulated by artificial neural networks. En el período foral moderno, en torno a la figura del virrey se va a desarrollar en Valencia todo un mundo cortesano con sus correspondientes connotaciones culturales, sociales y políticas. Los conflictos de precedencia y protocolo acaecidos en ese marco han sido escasamente atendidos en la investigación. En este trabajo se abordan desde los diferentes planos sugeridos por la documentación analizada. Plantean fundamentalmente las relaciones establecidas entre el representante y los oficiales regios en el territorio, por una parte, y los poderes locales representados por la ciudad de Valencia y la nobleza territorial , por otra.
