Mediation and Conciliation in Collective Labor Conflicts in Italy.
2019
With the support of the EC (DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion) a project was conducted to examine and promote third party intervention in collective labor conflicts in 12 European countries. Three studies were conducted. Study 1 was mainly a documental study offering a socio-political, institutional and legal analysis of each mediation system, including interviews with experts on the current status. Study 2 was a comparative analysis of the effectiveness of mediation systems from the users’ perspective. Interviews and focus groups were conducted in order to assess employers’ and employees’ motives to use or not use third party services for conciliation or mediation, and the satisf…
Artificial Social Ethics: Simulating Culture, Conflict, and Cooperation
2020
In recent years advances in computational modeling and social simulation technologies have enabled scientists to identify some of the conditions under which – and the mechanisms by which – conflict and cooperation within and across human cultures are likely to emerge. There are significant ethical concerns surrounding the increased capacity and growing use of such computer tools to guide public policy discussions. The purpose of this paper is to propose and promote an "artificial social ethics" approach to addressing these concerns and illustrate its application in relation to three agent-based models implemented within the Artificial Society Analytics Platform. We conclude with a brief dis…
Does role stress predict burnout over time among health care professionals?
2012
Abstract The main objective of this study is to test the effects over time of three role stress variables (role conflict, role ambiguity and role overload) on the three burnout dimensions (emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal accomplishment). Based on theoretical models on burnout and on meta-analytical research, it is hypothesized that the three role stress variables will predict changes over time in emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, but not in personal accomplishment. The results obtained by means of hierarchical regression analysis partially support the hypothesis. The three role stress variables predict emotional exhaustion over time. Role conflict and role ove…
Development of a European consensus from dentists, dental hygienists and physicians on a standard for oral health care in care-dependent older people…
2020
ObjectivesThis study aimed to obtain a consensus on oral health policy, access to dental care, oral hygiene measures and training levels.BackgroundPoor oral health is widespread in care-dependent older people, but no consensus for a minimum standard of oral health care exists yet.MethodsThe e-Delphi approach was applied to a selected panel of interdisciplinary experts. Data analysis was based on three measurements: (a) ≥70% of experts’ opinion fall into category “agree or strongly agree,” (b) median score on the 5-point Likert scale ≥4, (c) interquartile range ≤1.ResultsA total of 31 experts from 17 European countries participated in this survey. Agreement was achieved for a compulsory dent…

Halloysite Nanotubes for Cleaning, Consolidation and Protection
2017
Herein, we report our recent research concerning the development of halloysite based protocols for cleaning, consolidation and protection purposes. Surface modification of halloysite cavity by anionic surfactants was explored to fabricate inorganic micelles able to solubilize hydrophobic contaminants. Hybrid dispersions based on halloysite and ecocompatible polymers were tested as consolidants for paper and waterlogged archaeological woods. Encapsulation of deacidifying and flame retardant agents within the halloysite lumen was conducted with aim to obtain nanofiller with a long-term protection ability. The results prove the suitability and versatility of halloysite nanotubes, which are per…
¿Quién decide qué y cómo? el conflicto en torno a la participación ciudadana en el contexto del desarrollo de la iniciativa urbana: Cuenca-San Antón …
2018
This article describes the main results of an ethnographic study on citizen participation carried out in the context of the development of the Urban Initiative (2007-2015): Cuenca-Barrio de San Antón. Managed by the City Council of Cuenca and financed by the European Regional Development Funds (FEDER) under the Ministry of Economy and Finance at the Government of Spain The results of the research show how in the context of the application of neoliberal policies, citizen participation becomes the trigger for new conflicts between institutions and citizens. In this sense, it is worth noting how, in practice, institutions in their capacity as experts and not willing to dis-empower themselves, …
Pour une approche cognitive et multiscalaire des conflits environnementaux
2011
Starting with artificial light as new object damage and emerging environmental problem, this paper intends to develop a general reflection showing the importance of a greater consideration of cognitive dimensions of the damage and risk analysis in environmental conflicting processes. We show how the cost-benefit analysis after the neoclassical theory of production, often used in the search for Pareto-optimal state and in the policies of monetary compensation to resolve environmental conflicts can - indeed must - be strongly challenged. Also, with this reasoning, we oppose an analysis in terms of cognitive interactions that groups develop around environmental goods and items of damage, thus …

The article presents the most significant factors that influence interpersonal and group communication in a multicultural environment in the field of education. It emphasizes both the basic theories of intercultural communication and their effectiveness, and theories that solve the problems of overcoming conflicts in the intercultural environment. In our time, when it is necessary to work in a multicultural environment, communication skills are becoming increasingly important. In the work of the teacher, cultural awareness and understanding of the differences between nations and cultures is important. These skills are especially needed when it is necessary to avoid or overcome possible prob…
