The central eight-membered ring of the title compound, C40H36N8O2, deviates from the ideal boat conformation because the bond between the exo-ethylene group and the adjacent N atom is twisted by 60.0 (4)° due to steric hindrance. Its adjacent benzene and pyrazole rings are oriented almost perpendicular to each other, making a dihedral angle of 85.8 (3)°. In the crystal, the molecules are linked by C(ar)—H...O hydrogen bonds, generating a three-dimensional network.
Untersuchungen zur Konformerenvielfalt von mono- und 2,5-dialkoxysubstituierten Poly(1,4-phenylenethenylen)en
1994
Investigations on the Conformational Variety of Mono- and 2,5-Dialkoxy Substituted Poly(1,4-phenyleneethenylene)s The alkoxy substituted poly(1,4-phenyleneethenylene)s 1 and 2 can principally exist in an enormous variety of conformers (table 1). However, force field calculations (MMX) reveal a far-reaching restriction to a relatively small number of non planar conformers with minimized steric energy. The decisive criterion is due to the interaction between the oxygen atoms and the olefinic hydrogens. An increasing steric hindrance should lead to higher twist angles θ in the main chain and hence to a shorter effective conjugation length. Such an effect could play a minor role between the uns…
Direct High-Performance Liquid Chromatographic Separation of Peptide Enantiomers: Study on Chiral Recognition by Systematic Evaluation of the Influe…
2002
All-R/all-S enantiomers of oligoalanines (Ala(n), n = 1-10) with N-terminal protection group have been separated by HPLC on chiral stationary phases based on various cinchona alkaloid selectors. Structure-enantioselectivity relationships derived by extensive selector structure optimization provided insights into binding mechanisms and chiral recognition. Their interpretation was supported by X-ray crystal structures of amino acid and dipeptide, respectively, in complex with chiral selector. Optimized selectors have bulky elements representing steric barriers and deep binding pockets that afforded very high enantioselectivities; e.g., for the all-R and all-S enantiomers of N-(3,5-dinitrobenz…
DNA interaction of new copper(II) complexes with sulfonamides as ligands
2007
New copper(II) complexes with sulfonamide ligands have been prepared and characterized. Sulfonamide ligands were prepared through a reaction between 8-aminoquinoline and either 2-mesitylene (Hqmesa), 4-tert-butylbenzene (Hqtbsa), or alpha-toluene (Halphaqtsa) sulfonyl chlorides. The structural analysis carried out for complex [Cu(alphaqtsa)(2)] indicated that the local environment of the Cu(II) cation is between a square planar and a tetrahedral geometry, with stacking of the benzene rings of the sulfonyl ligands between neighbor molecules. Powder EPR spectra at room temperature gave rhombic spectra for the [Cu(alphaqtsa)(2)] and [Cu(qmesa)(2)] complexes and an axial spectrum for the [Cu(qt…
Modular P-Chirogenic Aminophosphane-Phosphinite Ligands for Rh-Catalyzed Asymmetric Hydrogenation: A New Model for Prediction of Enantioselectivity
2007
An original series of P-chirogenic aminophosphane-phosphinite (AMPP) ligands has been synthesized from (+)- or(–)-ephedrine in 23 to 61 % overall yields by a versatile three-step methodology. The AMPP ligands, bearing either one or two P-chirogenic centers, were used in the form of rhodium complexes for the catalyzed hydrogenation of α-acetamidocinnamate as a test reaction. Notably, even with AMPP ligands all derived from (+)-ephedrine, variation of the substituent on a P-center allowed the phenylalanine derivatives to be obtained in either (S) or (R) absolute configurations, with ee values ranging from 99 % (S) to 88 % (R). The asymmetric induction was analyzed with the aid of X-ray struct…
Phosphane tuning in heteroleptic [Cu(N^N)(P^P)]+ complexes for light-emitting electrochemical cells
2019
The synthesis and characterization of five [Cu(P^P)(N^N)][PF 6 ] complexes in which P^P = 2,7-bis( tert -butyl)-4,5-bis(diphenylphosphino)-9,9-dimethylxanthene ( t Bu 2 xantphos) or the chiral 4,5-bis(mesitylphenylphosphino)-9,9-dimethylxanthene (xantphosMes 2 ) and N^N = 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy), 6-methyl-2,2'-bipyridine (6-Mebpy) or 6,6'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine (6,6'-Me 2 bpy) are reported. Single crystal structures of four of the compounds confirm that the copper(I) centre is in a distorted tetrahedral environment. In [Cu(xantphosMes 2 )(6-Mebpy)][PF 6 ], the 6-Mebpy unit is disordered over two equally populated orientations and this disorder parallels a combination of two dynamic processe…
4-4-20 anti-fluorescyl IgG Fab' recognition of membrane bound hapten: direct evidence for the role of protein and interfacial structure.
1995
The surface forces apparatus was used to identify the molecular forces that control the interactions of monoclonal 4-4-20 antifluorescyl IgG Fab' fragments with fluorescein-presenting supported planar bilayers. At long range, the electrostatic force between oriented Fab' and fluorescein monolayers was controlled by the composition of the protein exterior surrounding the antigen-combining site rather than by the overall protein charge. The measured positive electrostatic potential of the Fab' monolayer at pH > pI(Fab') was consistent with the structure of the exposed Fab' surface in which a ring of positive charge at the mouth of the antigen-combining site dominates the local electrostatic s…
Conformational properties and folding analysis of a series of seven oligoamide foldamers
2016
33 crystal structures (11 unsolvated and 22 solvates) of a series of seven oligoamide foldamers were analysed. The crystal structures revealed that despite the structural and environmental differences the series of foldamers prefer only two general conformations, a protohelical @-conformation and a sigmoidal S-conformation. Both conformations also have preferred crystal packing motifs and solvate forming tendencies. Hydrogen bonding was found to be the most decisive factor in conformational preference, but steric properties, the type of the peripheral substituents, as well as solvent and aromatic interactions were also found to have an effect on the conformational details and crystal form. …
Synthesis, microwave spectrum, quantum chemical calculations, and conformational composition of a novel primary phosphine, cyclopropylethynylphosphin…
2014
International audience; The microwave spectrum of cyclopropylethynylphosphine, C3H5C≡CPH2, has been investigated in the 26-120 GHz spectral region. The spectrum is dominated by very rich and complex a-type R-branch pile-ups. There must be insignificant steric interaction between the phosphino group and the cyclopropyl ring due to the long distance between these two groups. However, the phosphino group does not undergo free or nearly free internal rotation. Instead, the spectra of two distinct conformers were assigned. Both these two forms have CS symmetry. The symmetry plane bisects the cyclopropyl ring and the phosphino group in both conformers, and the lone electron pair of the phosphino …
Benzoannulated quinone-type electron acceptors: evolution of the molecular and electronic structures upon reduction
1998
Abstract The molecular and electronic structures of DCNQI and its π-extended derivatives benzo-DCNQI and DCAQI have been investigated using ab initio 6-31G ∗ calculations. The steric hindrance introduced by lateral benzoannulation determines the loss of planarity of the DCNQI moiety for DCAQI. The most stable conformation of DCAQI corresponds to a butterfly-type structure, in which the DCNQI ring adopts a boat conformation and the lateral benzene rings remain planar. This structure lies 2.75 kcal mol −1 below the fully planar conformation. MP2/6-31G ∗ calculations including full geometry optimization confirm the greater stability of the butterfly structure. The geometries of the anions and …
