Vārda nozīme ir sarežģīts un daudzpusīgs termins, tādēļ tam ir denotatīva (tieša) kā arī konotatīva (asociatīva) nozīme, kas paskaidro asociācijas, emocijas un individuālu pieredzi. Šī pētījuma mērķis ir pētīt darbības vārdu konotatīvās nozīmes britu laikrakstu redaktoru slejās, kā arī to funckijas un pielietojumu. Šajā pētījumā izmantotās metodes: pētīt teorijas materiālus un izveidot struktūru pētījuma analīzei, noformēt redaktoru sleju korpusu teskta analīzei, kurā iekļautas atrasto darbības vārdu konotatīvās nozīmes un semantiskie lauki. Social and cultural factors shape the linguistic perception of colour. At the same time, colour terms co-create the linguistic image of the world, which allows us to interpret reality and profile our statements and beliefs. This paper presents six basic colour terms: white, black, red, green, yellow, and blue (both as adjectives and as nouns) in the five different linguistic images of the world of the following languages: English, French, Italian, Polish, and Japanese. Sakārtojuma saiklis “un” emuāros

Emuāru rakstīšana pēdējo gadu laikā guvusi plašu popularitāti dažādās jomās un nozarēs. Lai gan valodas īpatnības emuāros nav plaši pētītas, valoda emuāros tiek raksturota kā nepastarpināta un tās lietojums tiek salīdzināts ar runas pierakstīšanu, kad domu plūdumu ir grūti sadalīt teikumos. Līdz ar to šī darba mērķis ir izzināt un analizēt sakārtojuma saikļa “un” lietojumu saliktos sakārtotos teikumos emuāros, kas ir uzskatīti par jaunu, vēl attīstības procesā esošu, žanru. Iegūtie rezultāti liecina, ka, lai gan tiek izšķirti astoņi sakārtojuma saikļa “ un” papildus nozīmju veidi, lielākajā daļā teikumu sakārtojuma saiklis “un” tiek lietots ar tā pamatnozīmi.

Jonah 1:13 has a delaying function in the narrative, introducing a pause between Jonah’s demand to be thrown in the sea (1:12) and the event’s occurrence (1:15). Most commentators discuss only the events of 1:13 and their causes. In this article, I suggest an interpretation of Jonah 1:13 based on the imagery of the narrative. An analysis of the use of metaphors and symbols does not replace the message of the verse; such an analysis simply augments it with motives of the seamen’s conversion.
