Public provision versus private provision of industrial land: a hedonic approach

Abstract This study examines the factors that explain the differences observed between the industrial land prices offered by the public sector and those offered by the private sector by means of estimating three hedonic pricing models. The results obtained show that location, defined as the distance to a highway, the distance to the city business district and the distance to the capital of the province, have an important impact on industrial land value. However, this impact is greater when private developers provide the land. Other variables considered, such as who is behind the provision of the industrial land, have an important impact on sale prices.

Performance of zero energy homes in smart village skarpnes

In Smart Village Skarpnes in southern Norway, five detached houses are designed as zero energy homes. This work reports on the photovoltaic (PV) power production and energy consumption behavior of these homes and discusses whether an annual zero energy budget may be achieved. Results so far indicate that the extremely low annual energy consumption assumed for these types of homes may be difficult to achieve, and also point at a need for better matching between production and consumption power profiles. The diagnosis of the current state of conservation of Puya raimondii Hams in Arequipa, Perú. – The authors show the results of a survey carried out in Perù, Arequipe region, and Bolivia, on the geographical distribution of Puya raimondii Harms. After describing the systematic and nomenclature of the Andinian species, the study of the biological, ecological and conservation status of this endemic plant species has been performed, as well. They have also described the density population and the risk of genetic erosion caused of both natural and anthropic pressure. Finally they evaluated the use of this plant species as animal feeding, popular medicine traditional local use.
The era of reference genomes in conservation genomics

Progress in genome sequencing now enables the large-scale generation of reference genomes. Various international initiatives aim to generate reference genomes representing global biodiversity. These genomes provide unique insights into genomic diversity and architecture, thereby enabling comprehensive analyses of population and functional genomics, and are expected to revolutionize conservation genomics.

Abstract Among Crioceris leaf-beetles, the two most widespread species (Crioceris asparagi and C. duodecimpunctata) are serious invasive plant pests, while another two (C. quatuordecimpunctata and C. quinquepunctata) are rare species restricted to steppe-like habitats in Eurasia. The aim of the research was to check the genetic distinctiveness of these four species and develop barcodes for their molecular identification using the mitochondrial Cytochrome Oxidase I (COI) gene and two nuclear markers: Elongation Factor 1-α (EF1-α) and Internal Transcribed Spacer 1 (ITS1). Abstract Most of the historical paints are mainly constituted by inorganic pigments, either pure or mixed, spread on the surfaces using different binding agents. The knowledge of the exact amount of different constituents of the paint, as well as of the mixing and pictorial techniques, is crucial for a careful program of conservation of polychrome works.
