Multispectral constancy for illuminant invariant representation of multispectral images

2018

A conventional color imaging system provides high resolution spatial information and low resolution spectral data. In contrast, a multispectral imaging system is able to provide both the spectral and spatial information of a scene in high resolution. A multispectral imaging system is complex and it is not easy to use it as a hand held device for acquisition of data in uncontrolled conditions. The use of multispectral imaging for computer vision applications has started recently but is not very efficient due to these limitations. Therefore, most of the computer vision systems still rely on traditional color imaging and the potential of multispectral imaging for these applications has yet to …

Accuracy of an Affordable Smartphone-Based Teledermoscopy System for Color Measurements in Canine Skin

2020

Quality smartphone cameras and affordable dermatoscopes have enabled teledermoscopy to become a popular medical and veterinary tool for analyzing skin lesions such as melanoma and erythema. However, smartphones acquire images in an unknown RGB color space, which prevents a standardized colorimetric skin analysis. In this work, we supplemented a typical veterinary teledermoscopy system with a conventional color calibration procedure, and we studied two mid-priced smartphones in evaluating native and erythematous canine skin color. In a laboratory setting with the ColorChecker, the teledermoscopy system reached CIELAB-based color differences &Delta

ROBUST ROAD SIGNS SEGMENTATION IN COLOR IMAGES

2012

International audience; This paper presents an efficient method for road signs segmentation in color images. Color segmentation of road signs is a difficult task due to variations in the image acquisition conditions. Therefore, a color constancy algorithm is usually applied prior to segmentation, which increases the computation time. The proposed method is based on a log-chromaticity color space which shows good invariance properties to changing illumination. Thus, the method is simple and fast since it does not require color constancy algorithms. Experiments with a large dataset and comparison with other approaches, show the robustness and accuracy of the method in detecting road signs in …

Design of a customized pattern for improving color constancy across camera and illumination changes

2010

International audience; This paper adresses the problem of color constancy on a large image database acquired with varying digital cameras and lighting conditions. Automatic white balance control proposed by an available commercial camera is not sufficient to provide reproducible color classification. A device-independent color representation may be obtained by applying a chromatic adaptation transform, from a calibrated color checker pattern included in the field of view. Instead of using the standard Macbeth color checker, we suggest to select judicious colors to design a customized pattern from contextual information. A comparative study demonstrates that this approach insures a stronger…

<title>Selective filters for improvement of color discrimination</title>

2003

Colored filters have been used as possible aids for perception in case of congenital color vision abnormalities. Higher stimulation for L cones in one eye (red filter) and for M cones (green) in other eye acts as a simple method to interfere in human color vision processing. Influence on subjective and objective vision performances as binocular functions, fusion, stereopsis and color vision has been tested. Special colored glasses have been created, taking into account each subjects refraction for distance and tested for the 5 months adaption time. No negative influence on binocular functions, no changes of heterophoria and lowering in fusion ability and stereopsis have been stated due to u…

Tiede on totta - toistaiseksi?

2014
