In this article, the authors discuss the legal liabilities of the professional engineer as both the engineer of record of a project and the construction site manager. In particular, this article analyzes the case of a fire at the end-user medium voltage–low-voltage (MV–LV) substation of a shopping center in Italy, which occurred a few years after the maintenance works on the electrical installation. The professional engineer who had designed and overseen the construction of the substation was accused of professional negligence. We ran a problem-based seminar with screen capture videos. The students worked in small groups of two or three students or they completed the coursework individually. In this seminar the students had a workspace in the Optima environment for publishing their coursework videos. At the final phase of the course the students were expected to familiarize themselves with the presentations of other groups. In this paper we analyze the benefit of our problem-based coursework on the web by comparing the different phases of it. Abies nebrodensis (Lojac.) Mattei is an endemic species of the north-west of Sicily located in an 84 ha area in the Madonie Regional park. The current population is limited to 30 relic adult trees and a fluctuating number of juveniles of natural regeneration. The species is defined as “Critically Endangered” in the Italian list of threatened plants and is classified as CR-D in the 2000 IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. The chapter investigates the mediated entextualizations of the identities of Polish immigrants to the UK in the period of post-crisis politics and economic reforms. The media discourse studied is collected from MojaWyspa.co.uk (MyIsland), one of the largest Polish-language online hubs designed for the substantial Polish community living on the British Isles. In a famous article published in 1993, Raymond Duval highlighted a simple fact: the student may confuse the mathematical object O he is trying to build cognitively with one of its semiotic representations R(O). Duval explained that this confusion was due to a sort of inevitable paradox: only someone who has already built O, can recognize R(O) as a representation of O and not as an object in itself.
