Los infractores de tráfico persistentes: el consumo de alcohol y la personalidad como predictores de la retirada del permiso de conducir
2020
ABSTRACT Traffic safety is an important social problem. Many accidents are due to non-compliance with traffic regulations. Serious or repeated offenses are sanctioned with penalty points or court conviction, and sanctions can lead to disqualification from driving. This paper explores the relevance of alcohol consumption and personality factors as predictors of driving disqualification. The aim of the study is to determine whether the behaviors of persistent offenders and their propensity for law-breaking are related to their characteristics and patterns of drinking. A sample of 358 drivers participated in the study: 126 non-offender habitual drivers and 232 persistent traffic offenders disq…

Exploiting social comparison using pervasive displays and mobile notifications for reducing energy consumption
2017
Abstract Public displays have been used as a persuasive technology in many prior works. In this paper, we describe a persuasive pervasive system aimed at influencing users’ behavior for reducing energy consumption in buildings. This system exploits a pervasive display that visualizes the energy consumption in different levels (rooms, floors, and buildings), exploiting social comparison techniques. Moreover, our system may be extended by means of a mobile application that sends persuasive personalized messages to the users regarding their energy consumption. We then present our evaluation study design, aimed at comparing the effectiveness of three possible implementation of our system: one b…
Emerging approaches for the treatment of hypertriglyceridemia.
2013
Hypertriglyceridemia is frequent in diabetic and obese subjects, who are at increased risk for cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Increased triglycerides (TG) are a hallmark of atherogenic dyslipidemia, representing a marker of atherogenic small dense low-density lipoproteins (sdlDL). Importantly, non-fasting/postprandial TG measurements tend to be emphasized in clinical practice for the prediction of CVD, and TG-lowering agents (primarily fibrates) have a beneficial effect on atherogenic dyslipidemia, reducing TG-rich particles and ultimately lowering the production of sdlDL. The combination of omega-3 fatty acids and statins is also recommended, and widely used in clinical practice for subjec…
Computer simulation of oxygen tension histograms--a possibility for interpretation of microelectrode measurements.
1972
Time course of excitatory and inhibitory states of bulbar respiratory modulated neurons.
1980
In respiratory modulated neurons of rabbits, vagally mediated inhibition is not bound to resting membrane potential oscillations. Latency of spinally evoked antidromical spike invasion, however, is shorter and threshold voltage is lower during the shift of membrane potential towards depolarization accompanying burst discharge.
Control of oxidative metabolism in volume-overloaded rat hearts: effects of different lipid substrates.
1994
The relationship between intracellular energy parameters and myocardial O2 consumption (VO2) was studied in control and volume-overloaded hearts perfused with different lipid substrates and over a range of left ventricular work loads. In control hearts, a unique linear relationship between log of cytosolic [ATP]/[ADPf].[Pi] (where [ADPf] is concentration of free ADP) and myocardial VO2 was observed between low and high work loads for both fatty acids studied. In volume-overloaded hearts perfused in the presence of exogenous palmitate, the slope of the relationship between log [ATP]/[ADPf].[Pi] and myocardial VO2 was considerably depressed. It would seem that, under these conditions, much o…
Assembly-Induced Bright-Light Emission from Solution-Processed Platinum(II) Inorganic Polymers
2019
Synthesis, processing, and characterization are reported for a series of tetracyanoplatinate Magnus' salt (TCN-MS) derivatives-soluble derivatives of the generally intractable Magnus' green salt-that feature the general structure [Pt(NH2R)(4)] [Pt(CN)(4)] where R is a branched alkyl group or a w-phenylalkyl group. In solutions, these coordination compounds generally dissolve on the level of individual ion pairs as shown by X-ray diffraction analysis. To enable the formation of quasi-one-dimensional linear stacks of Pt(II) atoms in thin films, the matrix-assisted assembly is employed, whereby the compounds are codissolved with poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO), followed by film casting, thermally a…
The DEPFET pixel detector for the Belle II experiment at Super KEKB
2014
A pixel detector built with the DEPFET technology will be used for the two innermost layers of the Belle II experiment at the e + e SuperKEKB collider at KEK. The physics goals of the experiment impose challenging requirements to the design of the pixel detector in terms of performance, material budget and power consumption. The DEPFET technology has proven to be a suitable solution for the Belle II requirements and has been chosen as the baseline for the detector. This paper reviews the DEPFET pixel detector for Belle II and the various system aspects that have driven its final design.

The utilitarian representation of sport in Rumania, a brake in the development of leisure practice. Since the countries of central Europe entered the liberal sphere influence, the consumptions of possessions and services develop there. We observe a movement of tutellaire and ideological emancipation of the sports organizations, but the practice of popular physical activities delays developing. If, on the ground, we notice the appearance of an structured professionally offer, contrary to all expectations, it does not pull a real increase of consumption. This situation which rises in inferred paradox a cultural interrogation on the previous history of these brakes. Historically, the sport dur…
