A Study of Osmosis Rate Through Several Proton Conducting Polymer Composite Membranes

Carbon dioxide is typically considered to be a byproduct of various industrial processes that should not be released into the environment due to its nature as a harmful greenhouse gas. One of the more promising ways to dispose of it in an economical and environmentally friendly way is by using it as a raw material in electrochemical synthesis reactors. An important part of such reactors is an ion exchange membrane. In this study the influence of ZrO2 content in SPEEK – ZrO2 composite membranes on rate of osmosis trough them was investigated, with the goal of evaluating ZrO2 as an additive for making ion exchange membranes with fine-tuned osmotic permeability.

Complementary approaches for assessing protein sources in fish feed

Fluctuating fishmeal (FM) prices and declining marine fish stocks have led to the current trend of replacing dietary FM with plant proteins (PP) in fish feed. PPs offer challenges both with respect to nutritional quality and the occurrence of antinutrients. The assessment of utilisation efficiency of PPs for growth is important for the sustainable production of fish feed. In this paper I analyzed the convergence between Romanian and Euro Zone`s business cycles using a Switching approach. Considering the evolution of final consumption expenditure as proxy for the business cycles, the underlying study is calibrated on the second key feature of Burns and Mitchell`s (1946) definition about business cycles, namely the cycles are divided and also treated differently for cases of expansionary and downward regimes. Effective Tax rates and Fiscal Convergence in the OECD: 1965-2001

In this work we elaborate a data base that includes 21 OECD countries along the 1965-2001 period. It includes average effective tax rates on consumption, capital and labour, which are adequate to analyse macroeconomic effects of fiscal policy. Additionally, we make a description of the most important features of fiscal structures in OECD countries along the last decades. Thus, we find that the ratio of fiscal revenues to GDP has steadily increased in these countries, mainly due to the increase of taxation on labour earnings. Effects of aerobic and strength training on aerobic capacity, muscle strength, and gene expression of lymphomonocytes in patients with stable CAD

This study examined the effectiveness, suitability, and safety of a mixed interval-type aerobic and strength training program (MIAST) on physical fitness in patients with stable coronary artery disease (CAD) without history of myocardial infarction (MI). Twenty-three patients with stable CAD were randomly assigned to a MIAST (n = 12; mean age 58.6 years) or control (n = 11; 63.3 years) group. The MIAST group participated in the progressive training program twice a week for 21 weeks. The aim of this study was twofold: Firstly, to find out whether organic meat consumers are perceived pro-social as defined by Griskevicius et al (2010) with attributes: Caring, Altruistic and Nice. The second theme was to find out what values of the perceiver influence that judgement; a glimpse to who finds the organic bacon consumer as pro-social.
