Using Attribute Grammars for Description of Inductive Inference Search Space
1998
The problem of practically feasible inductive inference of functions or other objects that can be described by means of an attribute grammar is studied in this paper. In our approach based on attribute grammars various kinds of knowledge about the object to be found can be encoded, ranging from usual input/output examples to assumptions about unknown object's syntactic structure to some dynamic object's properties. We present theoretical results as well as describe the architecture of a practical inductive synthesis system based on theoretical findings.
Predictive and Contextual Feature Separation for Bayesian Metanetworks
2007
Bayesian Networks are proven to be a comprehensive model to describe causal relationships among domain attributes with probabilistic measure of conditional dependency. However, depending on a context, many attributes of the model might not be relevant. If a Bayesian Network has been learned across multiple contexts then all uncovered conditional dependencies are averaged over all contexts and cannot guarantee high predictive accuracy when applied to a concrete case. We are considering a context as a set of contextual attributes, which are not directly effect probability distribution of the target attributes, but they effect on "relevance" of the predictive attributes towards target attribut…
Integration of cloud computing tools and knowledge bodies for the management of programming projects
2018
A Body of Knowledge (BOK) is a set of concepts and skills that represent the knowledge of a specific area of engineering or scientific discipline and ensure their common understanding [1]. A BOK can include technical terms and theoretical concepts as well as best practices [2] so in this document we will focus on the context of software engineering specifically in Software Project Management. In addition, Cloud Computing will is becoming the best way to deliver solutions that meet the current need for greater collaboration between companies, education and society. In this context, the learning of Software Project Management is important during the professional life of Informatica since it e…
Integrating Social Skills in Task-Oriented 3D IVA
2005
This paper presents a set of mechanisms oriented to incorporate social information into the decision taking of task-oriented 3DIVA. The aim of this approach is to integrate collaborative skills in different character's roles (seller/buyer, worker, pedestrian, etc.) in order to enhance its behavioral animation. The collective intelligence expected in this kind of multi-character domains (e.g. storytelling, urban simulation, interactive games, etc.) requires agents able to dialogue/interact with other characters, to autonomously group/ungroup (according to their goals), or to distribute tasks and coordinate their execution for solving possible conflicts. The social model implemented follows t…
Intelligent eye
2010
This paper describes Intelligent Eye, a mobile phone interactive leisure guide that offers location-based multimedia information. The information offered is related to the user's position, so the main goal of this work is the development of an efficient system to detect where the user is pointing his/her camera at by means of a content-based image retrieval algorithm (CBIR). The CBIR procedure uses color histograms in the HS color space extracted from images, and employs Kullback-Leibler divergence as the similarity measure. Intelligent Eye can be used in a wide range of camera-equipped mobile phones; however, efficiency is improved if GPS data is available. In order to outperform other sys…
Context Comparison for Object Fusion
2003
We propose a solution to help the integration of heterogeneous sources based on the fusion of objects according to their context. New requirements for information exchange have emerged with all the developments around Internet. Information consumers want to access and combine data from remote and heterogeneous sources in a transparent and dynamic way. To achieve this level of interoperation is yet a real challenge. We present a model to define local data as informative objects with a contextual representation associated to them. A semantic context comparison mechanism, based on a semantic distance, reconciles context of applications and constructs virtual objects in which rules make the fus…
Feature extraction from remote sensing data using Kernel Orthonormalized PLS
2007
This paper presents the study of a sparse kernel-based method for non-linear feature extraction in the context of remote sensing classification and regression problems. The so-called kernel orthonormalized PLS algorithm with reduced complexity (rKOPLS) has two core parts: (i) a kernel version of OPLS (called KOPLS), and (ii) a sparse (reduced) approximation for large scale data sets, which ultimately leads to rKOPLS. The method demonstrates good capabilities in terms of expressive power of the extracted features and scalability.
Improving distance based image retrieval using non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm
2015
Image retrieval is formulated as a multiobjective optimization problem.A multiobjective genetic algorithm is hybridized with distance based search.A parameter balances exploration (genetic search) or exploitation (nearest neighbors).Extensive comparative experimentation illustrate and assess the proposed methodology. Relevance feedback has been adopted as a standard in Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR). One major difficulty that algorithms have to face is to achieve and adequate balance between the exploitation of already known areas of interest and the exploration of the feature space to find other relevant areas. In this paper, we evaluate different ways to combine two existing relevan…
A collaborative tool for designing and enacting design processes
2009
Today several approaches using Situational Method Engineering paradigm exist, each of them proposes methods and techniques for developing ad-hoc design processes. In this context heavy efforts were spent in the construction of appropriate tools that could help method engineers in producing a specific design process and in using it. We developed a tool called Metameth for supporting the design process definition and its enactment. Metameth is implemented as a multi-agent system, where each agent is capable of reasoning and adapting itself in order to support the designer in performing different kinds of design activities.
5G V2V Communication With Antenna Selection Based on Context Awareness: Signaling and Performance Study
2022
Enhanced vehicle-to-everything (eV2X) communication is one of the key challenges to be addressed by the fifth generation (5G) of cellular mobile communications. In particular, eV2X includes some 5G vehicular applications targeting fully autonomous driving which require ultra-high reliability. Although vehicular communications are by default assumed between single antennas located on the roof of the transmitter and receiver vehicles, prior art has shown that there are other antenna positions more suitable for V2X communication, depending on the specific communication context. Antenna selection can be used in this case to select one specific antenna or a subset of them better suited for a cer…
