Intergenerational continuity in parents’ and adolescents’ externalizing problems: The role of life events and their interaction with GABRA2.

We examine whether parental externalizing behavior has an indirect effect on adolescent externalizing behavior via elevations in life events, and whether this indirect effect is further qualified by an interaction between life events and adolescents’ GABRA2 genotype (rs279871). We use data from 2 samples: the Child Development Project (CDP; n = 324) and FinnTwin12 (n = 802). In CDP, repeated measures of life events, mother-reported adolescent externalizing, and teacher-reported adolescent externalizing were used. Waking and dreaming: Related but structurally independent. Dream reports of congenitally paraplegic and deaf-mute persons

Models of dream analysis either assume a continuum of waking and dreaming or the existence of two dissociated realities. Both approaches rely on different methodology. Whereas continuity models are based on content analysis, discontinuity models use a structural approach. In our study, we applied both methods to test specific hypotheses about continuity or discontinuity. We contrasted dream reports of congenitally deaf-mute and congenitally paraplegic individuals with those of non-handicapped controls. Convergence Properties of Genuine Bernstein–Durrmeyer Operators

The genuine Bernstein–Durrmeyer operators have notable approximation properties, and many papers have been written on them. In this paper, we introduce a modified genuine Bernstein–Durrmeyer operators. Some approximation results, which include local approximation, error estimation in terms of the modulus of continuity and weighted approximation is obtained. Also, a quantitative Voronovskaya-type approximation will be studied. The convergence of these operators to certain functions is shown by illustrative graphics using MAPLE algorithms.

Cohesive delamination and frictional contact on joining surface via XFEM

In the present paper, the complex mechanical behaviour of the surfaces joining two different bodies is analysed by a cohesive-frictional interface constitutive model. The kinematical behaviour is characterized by the presence of discontinuous displacement fields, that take place at the internal connecting surfaces, both in the fully cohesive phase and in the delamination one. A phase-field model for strain localization analysis in softening elastoplastic materials

Abstract The present paper deals with the localization of strains in those structures consisting of materials exhibiting plastic softening response. It is assumed that strain localization develops in a finite thickness band separated from the remaining part of the structure by weak discontinuity surfaces. AbstractIn the framework of numerical analysis of joined bodies, the present paper is devoted to the constitutive modeling, via an interface kinematic formulation, of mechanical behaviour of internal adhesive layers. The mathematical model of the three-phase fixed-bed reactor (TBR) consisting of the continuity equation, the momentum balances of each phase and mass balances of reaction mixture components were presented and discussed. A non-hydrostatic pressure distribution solver for the nonlinear shallow water equations over irregular topography

Abstract We extend a recently proposed 2D depth-integrated Finite Volume solver for the nonlinear shallow water equations with non-hydrostatic pressure distribution. The proposed model is aimed at simulating both nonlinear and dispersive shallow water processes. We split the total pressure into its hydrostatic and dynamic components and solve a hydrostatic problem and a non-hydrostatic problem sequentially, in the framework of a fractional time step procedure.
