Synchronization and fluctuations for interacting stochastic systems with individual and collective reinforcement

2020

The Pólya urn is the paradigmatic example of a reinforced stochastic process. It leads to a random (non degenerated) time-limit. The Friedman urn is a natural generalization whose a.s. time-limit is not random anymore. In this work, in the stream of previous recent works, we introduce a new family of (finite) systems of reinforced stochastic processes, interacting through an additional collective reinforcement of mean field type. The two reinforcement rules strengths (one componentwise, one collective) are tuned through (possibly) different rates n −γ. In the case the reinforcement rates are like n −1 , these reinforcements are of Pólya or Friedman type as in urn contexts and may thus lead …

A sum rule approach to total muon capture rates

1986

Abstract The total muon capture rate is expanded in terms of sum rules and the convergence of such an expansion is analyzed. It results that the energy-weighted and the inverse-energy-weighted sum rules provide an accurate estimate for the total rate in agreement with a complete RPA calculation through the response function. The static polarizability of the isovector dipole mode turns out to be the relevant quantity to determine the total muon capture rate, in light and medium nuclei.

Inductive E.S.O. model evolution: towards a viable inference model of resilience dynamics.

2013

In this paper, we will present the last evolution of the Territorial Intelligence (TI) networking vulnerability model. To introduce it, we'll first describe a well-known late 80's model of socio-economic crack-up, known as "Silent Weapons for Quiet Wars", constituted by three passive components as potential energy, kinetic energy, and energy dissipation. To extend this model to social and ecological sustainability pillars, we propose to present the E(Economic)-S(Social)-O(Organic) IT-collaborative model, based on the three sustainability capitals. Goal of this model is the developement system viability computation, which related "Viability theory" computational framework is able to define s…

Convergences des logiques sociales de la collaboration et des communautés en ligne

2012

How to create and / or control a group online, in or outside the boundaries of the organization so that it contributes to economic development of the company? This question functionalist concerns us, as sociologists and researchers in CIS, the hypothetical convergence of marketing and managerial logics in building community online. Fruits of political knowledge management, management of the symbolic and innovation processes in the organization in part, and an effective marketing strategy of intermediation between the user / consumer / innovator and consumer product for another part, the convergent approach and instrumental group online is sure to redefine the contours of the process of soci…

Ant Colony Optimization for an Adaptive Transportation System : A New Termination Condition Definition Using an Environment Based Approach

2020

The delivery of the packages following the online purchase of goods trough web giants platforms is growing faster each years. To meet the demand of the growing quantity ofpackages and their delivery, the algorithm used to resolve the Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) has to be efficient and adaptive. The algorithms used to solve the VRP algorithm still provide better turn, but do not deal with situation adaptation at delivery point. Seeking to fit into this adaptive feature, the commitment of this paper is to lay solid groundwork for the development of an adaptive transportation system. Exploring various strategies taking care of the possibilities of delivery at delivery point, our objective is t…

Reliable numerical solution of a class of nonlinear elliptic problems generated by the Poisson-Boltzmann equation

2020

We consider a class of nonlinear elliptic problems associated with models in biophysics, which are described by the Poisson-Boltzmann equation (PBE). We prove mathematical correctness of the problem, study a suitable class of approximations, and deduce guaranteed and fully computable bounds of approximation errors. The latter goal is achieved by means of the approach suggested in [S. Repin, A posteriori error estimation for variational problems with uniformly convex functionals. Math. Comp., 69:481-500, 2000] for convex variational problems. Moreover, we establish the error identity, which defines the error measure natural for the considered class of problems and show that it yields computa…

Patterns of inter- and intra-regional differences in human capital and earnings : Evidence from Finland and Sweden 1987–2015

2021

In this paper, we examine the long-term patterns of geographical disparities in human capital and income in Finland and Sweden over the period 1987–2015. Using nationwide longitudinal population register data, we analyze disparities at different spatial scales, between and within functional labor market regions determined by observed travel-to-work patterns. Contrary to the findings from many other developed economies indicating inter-regional divergence in per capita income, we find indications of inter-regional convergence in per capita earnings among the functional labor market regions in both countries after 2000. However, small, and peripheral regions have not recovered from the macroe…

Molecular phylogeny, biogeographic history, and evolution of cave-dwelling taxa in the European harvestman genusIschyropsalis(Opiliones: Dyspnoi)

2015

Abstract We estimated a multigenic molecular phylogeny and reconstructed biogeographic history for the European harvestman genus Ischyropsalis C.L. Koch 1839 (Dyspnoi). To reconstruct historical biogeographic patterns we conducted an algorithmic VIP analysis which revealed patterns consistent with a vicariance-dominated history. The existing morphology-based systematic framework for Ischyropsalis is mostly inconsistent with molecular phylogenetic results, and a new informal system is established that recognizes three main clades and several sub-clades. Species-level analyses revealed two non-monophyletic species (I. pyrenaea Simon 1872 and I. luteipes Simon 1872); subspecies of I. pyrenaea …

Convergence Analysis of Distributed Set-Valued Information Systems

2016

This paper focuses on the convergence of information in distributed systems of agents communicating over a network. The information on which the convergence is sought is not rep- resented by real numbers, as often in the literature, rather by sets. The dynamics of the evolution of information across the net- work is accordingly described by set-valued iterative maps. While the study of convergence of set-valued iterative maps is highly complex in general, this paper focuses on Boolean maps, which are comprised of arbitrary combinations of unions, intersections, and complements of sets. For these important class of systems, we provide tools to study both global and local convergence. A distr…
