Visualizing categorical data in ViSta

The modules in the statistical package ViSta related to categorical data analysis are presented These modules are: visualization of frequency data with mosaic and bar plots, correspondence analysis, multiple correspondence analysis and loglinear analysis. All these methods are implemented in ViSta with a big emphasis on plots and graphical representations of data, as well as interactivity for the user with the system. These provide a system that has shown to be easy, useful, and powerful, both for novice and experienced users.

The correspondence theory of truth is usually considered unsuitable for qualitative research. This is because of the interpretive nature of social reality and subjective nature of research procedures. Contra these ideas it is argued that the correspondence theory of truth is presupposed in the practice of qualitative research. This theory does not, however, dictate any methods for verifying the interpretations. Various theories of truth are seen as necessary because of the complexity of the interpretation process.
Two View Line-Based Motion and Structure Estimation for Planar Scenes

We present an algorithm for reconstruction of piece-wise planar scenes from only two views and based on minimum line correspondences. We first recover camera rotation by matching vanishing points based on the methods already exist in the literature and then recover the camera translation by searching among a family of hypothesized planes passing through one line. Surgeons' fear of getting infected by COVID19: A global survey

During the last three months, COVID- 19 pandemic had led to a serious backlog of operations globally, and plans for restarting operation are imperative. Recommendations for surgical activities were studied, aiming to protect the surgical staff from being infected. In the meantime, it is also important to give attention to the surgeon’s personal feeling during work. We conducted a survey to investigate global surgi- cal practices during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the surgeon’s personal feeling was also investigated in the sur- vey. In this special letter, we performed multivariate analysis to explore factors that associated with surgeon’s fear of getting infected by COVID-19.
Crossmodal correspondences between typefaces and food preferences drive congruent choices but not among young consumers

Abstract Several studies suggest that consumers match stimuli across sensory modalities, with angular (vs. round) typefaces typically associated with sourness (vs. sweetness). Drawing on findings from the field of crossmodal correspondences, this study (N = 220) examined potential typeface effects in naturalistic settings and found that exposure to angular (vs. round) typeface increased (decreased) consumers’ preferences for sour (sweet) food but had no impact on their expectations or perceptions of these tastes. DEFINING MACROINVERTEBRATE ASSEMBLAGE TYPES OF HEADWATER STREAMS: IMPLICATIONS FOR BIOASSESSMENT AND CONSERVATION

We used data from 235 boreal headwater streams in Finland to examine whether macroinvertebrate assemblages constitute clearly definable types, and how well biologically defined assemblage types can be predicted using environmental variables. Two- way indicator species analysis produced 10 assemblage types, which differed significantly from each other (multiresponse permutation procedure, MRPP). However, based on MRPP and nonmetric multidimensional scaling, there was wide variation among sites within each assemblage type, and high degrees of overlap among assemblage types.
